OBJECTIVE
This document defines the anti virus software policy and procedure for all networked computers within the SBV network. It is intended for the Network Administrator and PC Support person and should be reviewed by the IT Manager. Assumption All Computers are connected to SBV Local Area Network, Wide Area Network have Windows XP Professional Installed. Only Network Administrators can change the settings of the Mcafee Anti Virus Software on each computer connected to the Network.

PROCEDURE NT server and workstation update All NT servers and Computers should have the current version of Mcafee Anti Virus software installed. The latest version can be referenced at the following web site http:\\www.mcafee.com All updates and upgrades are done automatically via the SBV network and are scheduled to run on a daily basis.
File Scanning In the event of a virus being found the File is moved to a folder and then deleted. A daily scan of all files is scheduled to run in the evening on each computer. On demand scanning is enabled on all the Servers
PC Virus Scanning Each computer has the latest version of the ant virus software installed. This is installed by SBV IT Staff and update schedules vary.

PROCEDURE continued Each user is responsible for the integrity of data and to report any miscellaneous events that occur on their computers to SBV IT Helpdesk.
Virus Updates Each computer is configured to update the Definitions on a daily basis. The update file is automatically retrieved via local server or WAN. Remote computers are updated as per Dialup connection; each user must ensure that they dial in to update their anti-virus software.
Virus Alerts In the event of a Virus Alert on any computer connected the SBV Local Area network or Wide Area Network the following procedure should followed
Desktop Computer 1. Disconnect the computer from the network 2. Notify the SBV IT Helpdesk staff immediately. 3. Do not process any e-mail or access the Network drives or print.
