Model United Nations in Bangladesh

In Bangladesh, United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) was the pioneer of this unique format of intellectual exchange of views.[1][2] The first MUN was organized by UNYSAB in association with UNAB and UNIC- Dhaka in October, 2002 on terrorism in observance of the UN day. The second MUN was organized in association with UNIC again in October, 2003 and the topic of discussion was HIV/AIDS. The third MUN was organized in collaboration with CAMPE in June, 2006 and the topic of discussion in this conference was "Quality education and Millennium Development Goals". UNYSAB also represented Bangladesh in different regional and World MUNs. In 2004, first delegation team went to Beijing, China to participate in the 1st WFUNA Model United Nations. Then in 2006, UNYSAB again represented Bangladesh in 2nd WFUNA MUN held in New Delhi, India. In March, 2007 a delegate team from UNYSAB participated in Asian International MUN conference held in Beijing, China. In the same month, a delegation team went to participate in the World Model United Nations held in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2008 UNYSAB team participated in the AIMUN 2008 in China and APMUN 2008 in South Korea. In 2009 UNYSAB team participated in the GMUN 2009 in Switzerland organized by United Nations. In 2010 UNYSAB team participated in many countries, NTUMUN in Singapore, EMIMUN in Dubai, NAMUN in Canada, AIMUN in China, GMUN in Malaysia, SLMUN in Srilanka and in 2011 team from UNYSAB and DUMUNA participated in EMIMUN in Dubai, NMUN in USA. So the journey has just begun. Model United Nations Conference has started reaching distant schools, colleges and other institutes of Bangladesh and with the efforts of UNYSAB member, especially (Mr. Sheikh Mohd. Erfan Uddin, SVP of UNYSAB); DUMUNA established as the first Model UN Association in Bangladesh. The bright presence of Bangladeshi youth in international conferences gives the signal that in near future Bangladesh will be a dominant figure in International MUN conferences. United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) organized BANMUN 2011 this 13th October - 15th October 2011 with 4 exciting committees with all the flavors of UN, in association with United Nations Information Center and Dhaka University Model United Nations Association.
