Configuration Approach Jobcodes

RECORD NAME Job Code Table Job Code Compensation Rate Table Job Code Training Program Table DESCRIPTION Used to store codes and attributes for different types of work that the organization requires in order to provide services. Used to associate multiple components of pay to a job code. Used to associate a training program to a job code.

Record Information: PS RECORD NAME JOBCODE_TBL JOBCD_COMP_RATE JOBCD_TRN_PROG

Approach: The State of Connecticut will utilize job code functionality. There will be a one to one relationship between a job code, a salary plan and a bargaining unit. An example being, a Clerk assigned to the Clerical bargaining unit would have a different job code than a Clerk working in HR who would not belong to a bargaining unit and would be assigned to the confidential pay plan. Currently there are approximately four thousand job codes maintained by DAS. Eight hundred and fifty unclassified job codes exist at UCONN-Storrs and three-hundred at UCONN-Health. The interfacing agencies, UCONN Storrs and UCHC are not currently maintained by DAS although DAS assigns the (class) jobcode number. The training module will not be used in phase one therefore the records associated with the Job Code Training Program Table will not be configured at this time. We will have one default compensation rate code for every Jobcode. Information Source: The information for this table will be gathered from the Department of Administrative Services. UCONN-Storrs, UCONN Health, Judicial, Legislative Management, the Community Colleges and Department of Education will also have to submit data. Data Entry Method: _____ On-Line Pages ___X_ Excel Spreadsheet Fields on Record: PS RECORD NAME/ PS FIELD NAME JOBCODE_TBL SETID

DESCRIPTION 6 Character field. The value for this field will be determined as part of the SETID work unit which defines how the State of Connecticut would like to organize Jobcode information for viewing purposes.

PeopleSoft delivers job codes to be set up as either regular or temporary. Job codes will be set up with a default of regular in Core-CT. DAS will need to configure the values for each job code. The State of Connecticut will not be utilizing the training module in phase one. Each Jobcode will have a default compensation rate code, but no other compensation rate code functionality will be utilized. Job Codes are associated with Position Data, which will be converted mostly from existing data in APS Employees cannot be hired or paid by PS unless they have been assigned a job code.
