Advocate for small businesses As a member of COSE Government Advocacy Committee, we examine state or federal regulations and bills that if legislated, may impact small businesses negatively. By having a cost/benefit analysis attached to the bills introduced into the legislature, we assure that our voice is expressed to the legislators to ensure that unnecessary or over-regulation does not occur. In essence, let the small business owner manage and grow his business without government intrusion. Advocate for Healthcare Reform As a healthcare specialist, I am interested in Medicaid reform and healthcare reform. Since a third of the state budget is consumed with healthcare costs, and the likelihood of families and individuals eligible for Medicaid coverage going forward, it is important to have the technology in place that streamlines the system to provide reimbursement to the service providers and ease in tracking those enrolled. Promote government efficiency Serving as a trustee of a township enabled me to look for cost savings in our energy, utilities, insurance and healthcare premium expenses. I look for collaborative efforts with other private or public sector entities to maximize the savings of expenses for government operations to save the tax payers dollars. Some examples would be with Efficientgovnow, which seeks collaborative projects that benefit communities and save taxpayer dollars. COSE is another example of using group purchasing power from the private sector businesses just like the Ohio Township Association provides resources for government agency savings. I would work with the Ohio chamber of commerce as well as local chambers to ensure that areas have resources to assist local business and that the state website through the Secretary of State office and the CSI ensures ease in navigating the web site to get answers to business owners requests and needs. __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you?
I am pragmatic. If there is a pot of money, and you divvy it up, you still have only so much money. The public insists that the state make it last and allocate it appropriately. In other words, live within your means, and if you cant buy everything now, then be strategic about planning and implement projects in phases based on anticipated revenue.

I advocate for small business and am passionate about having government (or at least try) to run like a small business. Communities need to identify what are common services that there can be a cost sharing or saving, since some municipal or local governments are not able to sustain all the services alone. An example is looking at fire districts where there is a cost saving for capital and operational expenses.

I do my homework to ensure that I have both sides of issues before making decisions. I put the residents first and am approachable by phone or email. I am not perfect, but always listen or ask how I can help, and seek solutions. I look for cost savings that stretch my dollars for household expenses, so why shouldnt government do the same?
