00-SAIP-75 External Visual Inspection Procedure

Ensure that all equipment within the area of responsibility is listed in the EIS specifying inspection intervals as required by SAEP-20. A schedule of annual or two-year external inspections shall be made available and is updated regularly. Perform an annual or two-year external inspection of all existing equipment within Saudi Aramco facilities listed in the approved EIS with the corresponding checklist(s); per attachments below. Complete individual checklist for pressure equipment per SAEP-20, paragraph 5.5.8. Use the attached checklists as references only when inspecting piping, civil, electrical if not individually listed in the EIS. Prepare a detailed on-stream inspection report/worksheet of the present condition of the equipment highlighting the deficiencies observed that require repair or action necessary to prevent further damage to the equipment.

4.2.3

Commentary Note: Request engineering evaluation if deemed necessary.

External Inspection Procedure Guidelines A mechanical, electrical, civil inspection(s) shall be carried out annually to all equipment located offshore and every two years to all equipment onshore such as boilers, piping, pressure vessels, storage tanks, valves, and associated support structures per SAEP-20. The Cathodic protection shall be checked per SAEP-333/333A checklist. The inspector shall check each equipment or group of equipment, complete the applicable checklist and provide detailed report when an action is required. The report will show the equipments present condition and the corresponding recommendation(s).
Commentary Note: Refer to SAES-H-001 for definitions of onshore and offshore locations.

00-SAIP-75 External Visual Inspection Procedure

Operations personnel shall be informed that entry to Saudi Aramco facilities for external inspection will be made. The proper safety equipment and/or tools should be used during the inspections. Removal of thick rust scales of corrosion pits to determine extent of damage shall be coordinated with operations. Eye or skin contact with insulation must be avoided. Contact with high temperature piping surface must be avoided.

Reporting 7.1 A specific external inspection report or alternatively a worksheet shall be issued (within one month) to the responsible operation representative where action is required to correct a deficiency or deficiencies found. For equipment where conditions do not require any repair until the next scheduled external inspection, a summary or list of equipment external inspections shall be issued to the responsible organization at a suitable frequency. Hydrocarbon leaks no matter how small shall be reported immediately to operations representative(s) to correct the problem.
