Dr. Pavel Anzenbacher, Jr., was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, on December 5, 1968. He received a M.S. degree (with highest honors) in Organic Chemistry in 1992 from the Charles University, Prague (supervisor: Professor Vladimir Kral). He obtained a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Graduate School of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, in 1997 (supervisors: Dr. Ivan Rosenberg and Professor Vladimir Kral). In summer 1996 he accepted a position of an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Technology at Prague, where he worked for one year. He was then a Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor Jonathan L. Sessler at the University of Texas at Austin. In August 2000 he took up a position as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Bowling Green State University, Ohio. For his research accomplishments, he was awarded the Outstanding Young Scholar Award and the Olscamp Research Award by the Bowling Green State University in 2003 and 2008, respectively, and the Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship in 2005. In 2006 he was promoted to a position of Associate Professor. The research in his group is focused on the development of advanced photonic materials and devices in two main areas: i) supramolecular materials for molecular sensing and ii) materials that can be used in fabrication of bulk hererojunction solar cells and OLEDs. Dr. Anzenbacher has authored or coauthored over 80 research publications, several book chapters, and 3 U.S. Patents.
