Madame Congresswoman, The people of the Hudson Valley deserve to know beyond any doubt that their Representative hasnt received any improper donations and that every dollar your campaign has raised is fully transparent and absolutely clean. Despite your misleading statements to the contrary at a recent town hall meeting, your constituents will not have those assurances as long as you continue to ur partner with the New York Congressional Victory Committee 2011 and Rep. Michael Grimm to raise tens of thousands of dollars for your campaign every quarter. Therefore, I strongly urge you to suspend your participation in this joint committee with Rep. ge Grimm as long as he and his largest fundraiser are under investigation for money laundering and possible bribery. Continuing a substantial fundraising relationship with a man under fede federal investigation for major violations of campaign finance law raises serious questions about your judgment and commitment to a clean Congress. Additionally, it is essential for you to immediately and thoroughly review every donation made to this joint committee to ensure that none of them are in any way connected to the investigation mmittee of Rep. Grimm. It is also essential that the proper authorities have access to all of the New York Congressional Victory Committee 2011s records during their ongoing investigation of Rep. investigation Grimm, so that they can make their own determination as to whether there is any connection As , connection. such, I urge you to follow Rep. Grimm's lead and turn over all documents related to fundraising for the New York Congressional Victory Committee 2011 to the U.S. Justice Department. 2011 This is not a novel or outrageously restrictive standard to expect our elected Representatives to live up to, and it is one you have embraced in the past. Two years ago, you demanded that your predecessor, Rep. John Hall, return $21,000 he had accepted over the course of 4 years from a l, PAC affiliated with Rep. Charlie Rangel. In comparison, you accepted more than $62,000 from a PAC affiliated with Rep. Grimm last quarter alone. By the standard you applied to Rep. Hall, you should immediately return or donate to charity your much larger windfall and sever your ou close, ongoing ties with Rep. Grimms fundraising apparatus while it is under such a cloud.

Elected office is a public trust, and all public servants have an obligation not to take actions that undermine that trust. You have a duty to the people of New York, the residents of the Hudson Valley, and your constituents in the 19th Congressional District to maintain the high ethical standards we expect our Representatives to uphold. Congressman Michael Grimm stands accused of serious crimes and those allegations cast a pall over anyone or anything connected to his fundraising. Because there is such uncertainty over the propriety of his actions, the only responsible choice is to stop fundraising with him, demand answers as to whether he has involved your joint committee in these alleged activities, and return or donate to charity all the money you gathered from that partnership. Respectfully,

Richard Becker Democratic Candidate for Congress
