III. POLICIES AND PROCEDURES All students are expected to conduct themselves in a gentlemanly manner on and off campus, abide by the schools policies and rules, be considerate to others and lead exemplary Christian lives. (LSGH, High School Dept., Student Handbook) Science 1, is a 2-unit subject, equivalent to three- 80-minute periods a week where one period is for ERD discussion. Meetings are allotted to discussions, lectures, experimental research and laboratory

experiments in Earth Science, and basic concepts in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The subject requires students to have knowledge and comprehension of science concepts, processes and skills, and mathematical operations in preparation for highly specialized fields of science. Generally, all Science classes are guided by the following policies and procedures: A. The requirements and rules stated in the Student Handbook will be followed ALWAYS. B. Make up for tests and experiments: 1. Make up for missed quizzes will only be given to students whose absences are due to: a. official representation to on- or off-campus activities; and b. illness but should be supported by a photocopy of the medical certificate to be submitted to the Science teacher concerned. 2. Make-up for long tests missed will be a week after its actual administration. In case of long absence, the science teacher concerned will schedule a make-up on a date convenient to the teacher. 3. Make-up for experiments missed should be one week after its actual performance after class hours. ST RD 1 to 3 yr : every Friday, 2:20 4:00 p.m. th nd th 4 yr : 2 and 4 Thursdays of the month The maximum score of a make-up experiment is 13/15. Concerned students should request for make-up to the laboratory technician and fill-up the necessary Appointment/Make Up Slip. The same slip may be downloaded from the Science Yahoo group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lsghbiology C. In case a student loses his laboratory workbook, he is expected to buy a new one. Photocopied worksheets will not be accepted. D. In case a student does not wear the prescribed laboratory gown/goggles, he will be allowed to borrow laboratory gown/goggles from the laboratory technician before he can be allowed to perform the activity/experiment. In which case, the maximum score is 13/15. Non-compliance for the third time during the first term will be sanctioned according to Category One of Categories of Offenses and Corresponding Consequences of the Student Handbook. In the second and third terms, sanction will be given every time the laboratory gown/goggles rule is violated. E. Only laboratory reports, worksheets and homeworks handwritten by the student himself will be accepted by the teacher. F. Use of the ERD Room is scheduled every: st Monday from 3:40 to 5:00 p.m. for 1 Yr. nd Thursday from 3:40 to 5:00 p.m. for 2 Yr rd Tuesday from 3:40 to 5:00 p.m. for 3 Yr th Wednesday from 3:40 to 5:00 p.m. for 4 Yr Students are encouraged to work on group projects in school during the above-mentioned schedule. An Appointment/Make Up Slip should be accomplished and submitted to the Science teacher not later than Friday prior to the date of use. This discourages the students from doing their science projects during weekends. G. Experimental Research Design (ERD) is a requirement to all year levels and should be done as a group project. H. Deadlines should be taken seriously. IV. REQUIREMENTS A. . Notebook - minimum requirements are: 1. Big composition notebook with color-coded spine and plastic cover (A-red, B-orange, C-pink, D-violet, E-navy blue, F-yellow, G-sky blue, H-brown, I-white, J-black, K- green) 2.
