Post-doctoral and PhD student positions

are available in the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Cell-Extracellular Matrix Research. Post description The Finnish Centre of Excellence in Cell-Extracellular Matrix (ECM) Research in 2012-2017 is an integrated consortium of six research groups led by professors Taina Pihlajaniemi, Johanna Myllyharju, Seppo Vainio, Robert Winqvist, docent Aki Manninen, and Dr. Lauri Eklund. The consortium aims to understand how cell-ECM interplay and the ECM microenvironments contribute to tissue development and homeostasis as well as how disruption of these essential conditions and interactions influence the integrity of tissues and malignancy development. The consortium integrates expertise in research on collagens, ECM synthesis and hypoxia response, embryonic induction and organogenesis, cancer genetics and tumour biology, epithelial cell polarity, and vascular morphogenesis. The laboratories of the CoE operate at the Medical Campus of the University of Oulu, Finland, and the groups are part of Biocenter Oulu. For more information about the groups, please see the Biocenter Oulu web-site (www.biocenter.oulu.fi). Conditions 4-5 postdoctoral and PhD student positions are open starting from the first of January 2012 and will be filled for 2-4 years, including a trial period of up to 4 months.
