Subject: GeorgeZimmermanandRacism DearMr.Holder, IrealizethatyouarenodoubtawareoftheeventsthattookplaceonFebruary26,2012inSanford, Florida.Whilethefactsofthecasehavenotbeenmadepublicyet,manyintheblackcommunityhave formedwhatmanyarecallingalynchmobagainstGeorgeZimmerman.Therhetoricfromtheblack communityhasrangedfrombenigntoincrediblyviolent.Amongthosethathaveinterjectedthemselves includeCongressmen(andwomen),theCongressionalBlackCaucus,TheNAACP,JesseJackson,Al Sharpton,SpikeLee,PresidentBarackObama,andthemostviolent,theNewBlackPanthers.Manyof theabovementionedgroups(orpersons)thatarecommentingonthetragiceventsofthatFebruary nightnodoubtunderstandthelawsofourgreatnation.WhateverhappenedtoINNOCENTUNTIL PROVENGUILTYandDUEPROCESS? Eventhoughmanyfeelthatgreatstrideshavebeenmadeinracerelations(wedohaveablack President),situationssuchasthismakemewonderifthatisindeedthecase.Thereistheappearanceof racismineverywaythishasbeenhandledanditisnotcomingfromthesupportersofGeorge Zimmerman. WhiletherushtojudgmentagainstGeorgehasincludedconsiderableconjecture,insinuations,and innuendofromtheblackcommunity,theyknowlittleofhim.WhentheDOJconcludesitsinvestigation regardingcivilrightsviolationsinthiscasethereisnodoubtthatyouwilldeterminethattheonlyperson thathashadtheircivilrightsviolatedisGeorgeZimmerman.Georgehasdonemorefortheblack communitythanalotoftheblackindividuals/organizationsthatarecallingforhisarrest(ordeath). WhileyouhavenevermetGeorgeIcantellyouthatracismisthelastbastionofthoughtforhim.Itis notinhisvocabularyorinhisconductasanAmericancitizen. Iamnotwritingthislettertodiscusstheintricaciesofthecasebecause,asyouknow,theinvestigation bytheFloridaAttorneyGeneralisnotcomplete.Iamwritingyoutoaskyouwhy,whenthelawofthe landiscrystalclear,isyourofficenotarrestingtheNewBlackPanthersforhatecrimes?TheZimmerman familyisinhidingbecauseofthethreatsthathavebeenmadeagainstus,yettheDOJhasmaintainedan eeriesilenceonthismatter.Thesethreatsareverypublic.Ifyouhaventbeenpayingattentionjustdoa Googlesearchandyouwillfindplenty.SincewhencanagroupofpeopleintheUnitedStatesputa bountyonsomeoneshead,circulateWantedposterspublicly,andstillbewalkingthestreets?Many peoplethatIknow(andmanythatIdont)believethatracismistheonlyreasonthatthisgrouphasnot beenroundedupyet.Again,wearenottalkingaboutracismonthesideofGeorgeZimmerman.Thereis nopossibleexplanationforwhythisisnotthecase.Theentireworldhasseenthesethreatsandwecan allonlyassumethatyourofficehasaswell.

 BelowisanexcerptoftheDOJsdefinitionofahatecrime:

Hate crime is the violence of intolerance and bigotry, intended to hurt and intimidate someone because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religious, sexual orientation, or disability. The purveyors of hate use explosives, arson, weapons, vandalism, physical violence, and verbal threats of violence to instill fear in their victims, leaving them vulnerable to more attacks and feeling alienated, helpless, suspicious and fearful. Others may become frustrated and angry if they believe the local government and other groups in the community will not protect them. When perpetrators of hate are not prosecuted as criminals and their acts not publicly condemned, their crimes can weaken even those communities with the healthiest race relations
WhentheDOJ/FBIandtheFDLEhavecompletedtheirinvestigations,oneoftwothingswillhappen. Georgewillbesentencedandgotoprisonorhewillbeclearedandhewillattempttoliveanormallife. Thelatterwillbeimpossiblebecausehehasbeentriedandconvictedinthecourtofpublicopinionand hewilllivehislifelookingoverhisshoulderwonderingwhenhewillbeattackedbythelynchmob. Basedsolelyuponyourofficesdefinitionofahatecrime,whichstatesOthersmaybecomefrustrated andangryiftheybelievethelocalgovernmentandothergroupsinthecommunitywillnotprotect themisexactlythewaywefeelnow.Further,thelastsentencereadsWhenperpetratorsofhateare notprosecutedascriminalsandtheiractsnotpubliclycondemned,theircrimescanweakeneven thosecommunitieswiththehealthiestracerelations.Iwouldsurmisethat,basedonyourown definitionofahatecrime,youhavechosennottoarresttheseindividualsbasedsolelyonyourrace. Thereisnootherexplanation.Thisgrouphasbeenvideotapedinthepastconductingvoterintimidation andyourofficechosenottoarrestthemtheneither.Whatmessagedoesthatsendtotherestofthe worldandtothecitizensofthisgreatcountry?Itcertainlydoesnotsoundlikeanadministrationthatis tryingtomoveonfromraceproblems,itsoundslikeanadministrationthatcondonesthistypeof behaviorandonlywantstofurthertheraceproblemwhateverreason. ThetragedythatoccurredthatnighthadNOracialcomponentandtherearemanythataretryingtouse raceaswaymakemoneyandfurthertheiragenda.ItisunfortunatethattheMartinshavebeenusedby theblackcommunityandtheracebaiterstofurtherthedividesofracismandnotusetheopportunityto unitethecountry.Thechasmbetweenblacksandwhitesdeepenseverytimethesegroupsshowupto furthertheirowncause.StrangelyenoughthiscasehasalotofparallelstothoseofHarperLeesToKill aMockingbird.GeorgeZimmermanhasbeentreatedmuchlikeTomRobinsonwas,chastisedfornot beingtheright(orwrong)colorandfoundguiltybasedonracefactors.Youhavetheopportunitytoact asAtticusanddotherightthing.Yourbosswouldrefertothisasateachablemoment.
