Dear Friends, I came to California in the summer of 1978. I remember it like it was yesterday: I was zipping down PCH in a beat-up white Honda Civic. I had the ocean on one side of me and the Santa Monica mountains on the other. I was surrounded by open space and possibility. Finally, I was in California. The place where anything is possible. All my life, Id been connected to California because my Dad grew up in the orange groves of Ventura. He was UCLA, class of 1941, where he got a world class education for $16 a semester. I followed in his footsteps; I got an MBA for $1500 a semester. That is, no debt! That is the California that helped make me who I am today - a California that invests in its people and its future. Unfortunately, that vision of California is in peril. The politicians in Sacramento have left our government in a state of deep crisis. Weve put tax breaks for the rich ahead of investment in schools and infrastructure. Politics as usual in Sacramento has only made things worse. This is a crisis - and the kind of leadership needed in a crisis is different from business as usual. Thats why Im running for the Assembly. We need to turn California around. We need to put action and results ahead of talk and political games. Its been my lifes work to forge opportunity from crisis. As a leader of community non-profit organizations, Ive tackled the problems of social injustice and poverty head-on. Ive proven that Im not afraid to tackle the tough stuff. I have the skills needed to build coalitions and bring people together to solve problems. Send me to the Assembly and Ill be your champion for the environment, economic recovery, education, tax reform, equal rights and universal healthcare. Together, we can wage a winning fight for real reform. I hope you will join my campaign by visiting torieosborn.com. Please call my campaign office at 323-656-6167 if you have any questions. Id be honored to have your vote. Sincerely,

Torie Osborn
