Beneath our radiant Southern Cross, Well toil with hearts and hands, To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands, For those whove come across the seas Weve boundless plains to share, With courage let us all combine, To advance Australia fair. Prayers
1. Lord God Almighty, receive our thanks for the gift of a new day. Prepare us in mind and spirit and strengthen us in character and willpower, that we may be able to live today with calmness and cheerfulness, use our opportunities wisely, and fulfil our responsibilities worthily. Amen. 2. Eternal God, we give thanks that we do not travel alone in life. We express appreciation for those before us who set an example of courage and achievement, and for those now who share our ideals, understand our feelings, and offer us support and encouragement. Enable us both to give and receive friendship, and to respect and help others, in the spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen. 3. Eternal God, whose love is always reliable, we give thanks for the experiences and blessings of our lives. We express appreciation for those who love and encourage us, and for all whose wisdom and friendship contribute to our character and wellbeing. Enable us to live with integrity and serenity, and to the honour of Your holy name. Amen. 4. Almighty God, you call people to continue Christs work in the world, by living in love, overcoming injustice, and bringing liberation and blessing. Grant us Holy Spirit, that we may help bring peace and goodwill, and build good relationships. Amen. 5. Holy Spirit of God, present in creation and in the depths of each life, we turn again to You seeking stability and inner strength, so that we may take wise decisions, be strong in character, and live with purpose. Enable us to grow in faith and confidence, and to reflect serenity and graciousness. Amen. 6. We offer prayers of thanksgiving for this school and its influence upon our lives. Lord, accept our thanks for those who contribute to its welfare, and who uphold the ideals for which this school stands. Enable us to add to our faith knowledge, and to contribute to BBCs life with loyalty and spirit. Amen. 7. Father Almighty, thankful for the record of service led by those who have gone before us, we pray for vision and inspiration in our own time. We do not ask to escape from the problems and responsibilities of life, but for your power to make us strong; not for tasks more suited to our strength, but for strength more suited to our tasks. Gift us with courage and determination, and with the wisdom of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 8. O Lord God, when You give to Your servants to endeavour in any great matter, grant us also to know that it is not the beginning but the continuing of the same until it is thoroughly finished which yields the true glory. Amen. (Prayer of Sir Francis Drake, 15401596) 9. Almighty God, Lord of life and strength, we give thanks for significant moments in our lives, for times of challenge and excitement, for healthy competition, and for opportunities to show the kind of person we are, both on and off the field. Bless us, as a school and as individuals, with qualities of character and spirit. Amen. 10. Almighty God, who makes all things new, we give thanks for times of refreshment and recreation, and offer worship at the start of a new term. Give Your blessing to staff and pupils; grant us health, wisdom and enthusiasm; and strengthen us with resources of Holy Spirit. Amen. 11. Eternal God, the Lord of time and eternity, whose Spirit guides and inspires humanity, we offer prayer for the people of the world, especially to those who live in places of tension and conflict. May there be peace in our time, with nations and communities showing forth mutual friendship and compassion, in the spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen. 12. Grant us, O Lord, to know that which is worth knowing; to love that which is worth loving; to praise what should be praised; to avoid what in Your sight is unworthy; to prize what to You is precious; and above all, to search out and do what is well-pleasing to You; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Prayer of Thomas a Kempis, 13791471) 13. Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy; for Your mercy and truths sake. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. (A 19th century prayer in the spirit of St Francis of Assisi) 14. Teach us, O Lord, to serve You as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labour and not to ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do Your will. Amen. (Prayer of St Ignatius Loyola, 1491-1556) The Lords Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us in the time of trial, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours, now and for ever. Amen.

Room Numbering

BrisBane Boys College

The advent of the new Integrated Learning Centre has been the catalyst for a more systematic method of numbering our classrooms. For the benefit of old boys, the following is a list the old and new numbering. Each room now has a letter indicating the classroom block, the floor number and the room number. This system is also used for services such as data, electrical and phone lines, as well as maintenance staff. This explains why some of the rooms do not have consecutive numbering!
