Introduction

Description of Problem So much is going on in the world today, and it seems as though many individuals, especially college students, have little or nothing to say about world wide issues, especially issues concerning politics. Often students seem more concerned with social media and celebrity news, and it is not until students enter the classroom setting that they discuss social issues. During college, young adults should develop their opinions about cultural concerns, which include a growing understanding of politics.

Attributes to be Measured This research report will consist of 100 respondents answering a survey questionnaire concerning opinions about politics. Respondents will consist of students from Tuskegee University located in Tuskegee, Alabama. The purpose of the survey is to get individuals to think about where they stand politically, as well as measure the political views of college students on Tuskegee University's campus.

Hypothesis Research Questions Include: - Age - Region - Sex - Which do you believe President Barack Obama is handling best? - Overall how would you rate the job performance of President Barack Obama?

- Overall how would you rate the job performance of Democrats in Congress? - Overall how would you rate the job performance of Republicans in Congress? - All in all, you think things in the nation are? - Thinking about national issues for a moment, which issue concerns you most? - How would you rate your financial situation these days? - Which of the following two statements comes close to your point of view? - What is your political affiliation? - Basic health insurance is a right for all people, and if someone has no means of paying for it, the government should provide it. - Basic necessities, such as food and shelter are a right, the government should provide for those unable to afford them. A vast number of respondents will be of regions three and four. There will be more female respondents than male respondents. President Barack Obama and democrats in congress will have higher ratings than republicans in congress. Most respondents political affiliation will be democratic and liberal. A bivariate analysis is an examination between two variables (an independent and dependent variable). In the case bivariate relationships are present between how respondents

viewed things in the nation and respondents age, as well as whether respondents agreed or disagreed with the statement that basic necessities, such as food and shelter are a right, the government should provide for those unable to afford them and respondents age. It can be hypothesized that the younger respondents are the more positive their views will be concerning the nations direction. Also the younger to the respondents the more agreeable they are toward the idea of basic necessities being provided by the government for individuals unable to afford them.

Rationale It can be assumed that majority of respondents will be between the ages of 18-23 because this survey caters to college students at the undergraduate level. Regions three and four will make up a large percent of respondents because they contain the largest overall amount of states. There will be more female respondents than male respondents because there is a larger female population on Tuskegee Universitys campus. President Barack Obama and democrats in congress will have higher ratings than republicans in congress, because a large percent of respondents will be democratic. African Americans will make up a large population of Tuskegee Universitys campus, and african African are said to usually view themselves as democrats therefore majority of respondents political affiliation will be democratic.
