25 companies win Global HR Excellence Awards

As many as 25 renowned companies were conferred the coveted 2nd Global HR Excellence Awards-2011 at a splendid award ceremony attended by a glitterati of renowned Chairmen, CEOs, HR heads of public and private sectors. The Global Media Links and Business Milestones joined hands for the second consecutive year, for successfully organising the Global HR Excellence Awards in Karachi. Senior Federal Minister for Commerce, Makhdoom Ameen Faheem presided while Chairman Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan (IPO-Pakistan) Hameedullah Jan Afridi was the chief guest at the award ceremony. The emerging e-trade services based global Pakistani organisation "worldofTrade.com" showed outstanding performance in this competition and unanimously selected by independent award jury for three different innovative categories of second Global HR Excellence Awards 2011. The award winning categories of "WorldofTrade.com" were Business Leadership Excellence Award for former CEO Faisal Qayyum Siddiqui in individual category and the other two awards are respectively Fastest Growing Online Company and Most Customer-Focused Company. Among 25 organisations "WorldofTrade.com" was the only organisation; which has qualified for 3 separate Global HR Excellence Awards 2011; while six organisations has qualified for 2 separate awards and total 25 organisation have won the award in single category. In his presidential speech, senior Commerce Minister, Makhdoom Ameen Faheem said that with surety that best HRM practices in the public and private sectors would eventually lead to promoting a solidified and positive picture of Pakistan regarding economic and business affairs on the global scale. In this context I feel enormous pleasure in participating in Global HR Excellence Awards being conducted to recognise and eulogise best HR practices in the country. He also suggested that event management companies operating in Pakistan like the GML should also enlarge and galvanise canvas of their operations and conduct similar events, award ceremonies, seminars in important cities of regional economic hubs including the UAE so to attract more business and trade opportunities for the country's corporate and industrial sectors. In his speech on the occasion, Chairman IPO-Pakistan, Hameedullah Jan Afridi said that Human Resource Management is an emerging field in Pakistan and such type of events will certainly promote the modern HR practices in our country which will ultimately lead to improving quality of life. He suggested the organisers that while evaluating the nominations for the award competition, special considerations should be given to the SMEs so that there is a way for proper consolation for participation of small and medium enterprises in the future award events. He further said that holding of such events would act as a bridge between government, business and industrial sectors whose support is vital for achieving the dream of a better Pakistan. The chief guest said the government of Pakistan has also realised the importance of HR practices and is providing training to officers at all levels in different fields of human resource management in order to introduce this emerging profession efficiently. It is now a well-known concept that the human resource is a key driving factor and a competitive advantage for the organisations. Earlier in his welcome address, Chief Executive Officer of GML Mussadiq Aziz said that all the relevant stakeholders should play a pro-active role in bridging the demand-supply gap existing between business, industrial institutions and related skills of graduates of universities and institutes of higher education of the country. Also on the occasion, Aziz announced institution of Global Intellectual Property Rights Excellence Awards from the platform of GML and with the support of government of Pakistan.

He said the forthcoming IPR Excellence Awards would be held on the international scale. The awards were instituted to honour and recognise services of companies and individuals who performed extraordinary work and excelled in the field of Human Resource management. Another highlight of the HR Excellence Awards was holding of a panel discussion on the sidelines of award ceremony where HR practitioners and experts from public and private sectors shared their views and perceptions about modern practices and techniques of human resource management in corporate and business sectors around the world.
