II. A. B. C. D. III.
Rigging Up Dual Elevator A. Removal of elevator/spider should be done so as not to cause one to be lifted over the other; should orientation of the box require removing the spider before the elevator, the spider should simply be set aside out of the way while rigging up the elevators. B. Shackle the air-hoist to the lift bridle on the dual elevators. Hoist the elevators out of the box. Remove the 3/4" x 10" bail safety bolts by pulling the bolt up and completely out of the lifting ears. Hoist the elevator and place the upper lifting ear through the rig bales. Replace both of the 3/4" x 10" bail safety bolts and pins. C. Slack off on the air-hoist. Remove the lifting bridle by the removing the shackles from the lifting eyes on the elevator. Lifting eyes remain on the elevator. Insure that the shackle bolts are replaced on the elevator's lifting bridle, then remove from the air hoist and set aside. D. Attach the elevator's air hoses to the elevator and operate the elevators to reconfirm proper function. E. The elevator's air hoses should be run up the rig bail from the connection point to just below the top eye of the rig bail. A rope from the bail should be tied just below an eye created by looping the air hose back down from top of the bail in such a manner so as to have some degree of movement in the event of a pull strain being some how exerted on the air lines. Duct taper should be used to attach the air hose to the length of bail (figures 4,5, &6 page 11).

Discuss the procedure for tying the elevators to the derrick with the derrick man prior to doing so. The driller should assume at an appropriate point in the derrick. The driller should hoist the blocks sufficiently to pull on stand. The derrick man should take several wraps on the air lines, the driller will then slack the blocks off to approximately 5' off the rig floor. At this time the derrick man can feed extra hose down to the elevator or pull line up in order to pull any excess slack from the elevator and attain the final tie off adjustment. Then tie the lines off to the derrick. F. Rig up the pick-up slings to the bail or as directed by the driller, adjust by taking wraps on the upper bail eye to insure ease of tying on operations to the pipe in the Vdoor. G. Elevators should be hoisted out of the way by the driller in order to rig up the dual spider. Note: Equipment/accessories up to 6" OD can be lowered through the spider without necessitating removal of the spider and bridle. Remove the 1 1/2" x 11" spider bolt, connect the spider lift bridle chain with the spreader attached to the lift bridle chain in order to remove the spider from the hole, Use caution so as not to damage the spider's air hose.
IV.
Rigging Up Dual Spider A. Close the blind rams. B. Remove the inner bushings. C. Hoist the spider with the air hoist attached to the spider bridle and install centered on the base plate with careful attention to avoid smashing the air lines. Remove the spider's lift bridle and set aside. D. Connect the spider's air hoses to the spider and operate the spider to confirm proper function. E. A single string can be run with dual spider. F. Insure lower operational air pressure on the low-pressure regulator to the spider's slips so slips cannot be accidentally unset while working with limited string weight. G. Install the spider's divider pins after the dual packer has been run. Insure that the keeper pins and latches are secure.
