Title of Unit: Where We Live Title of Lesson: The Earth and its People

Lesson Plan # 1 out of 5

-Ask students if the Earth has more land or water. 5. Assessment: Again, this is an introduction to the new unit, so I would not do any formal type of assessment. I will mostly be walking around observing what students are doing and talking about during discussions. 6. Reflection:

What skills do students need in order to be successful with this lesson? -They need to have some background knowledge on weather and climates.

How will you follow up or extend this lesson? -I will follow up with this lesson the next day when we continue the unit, discussing Where We Live more in depth.

What can you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? -This is a very basic day, because it is the first day of a new unit, but, if students are having a hard time with the concept, I will give them some one on one extra practice to make sure that they are ready for the next day.

Where do you anticipate having problems with this lesson? -The only problem I might have with this lesson (that I can see so far) is that students might be off task during the video.

7. Materials: Houghton Mifflin Teachers Edition (pages 70-71). Understanding and Using Globes Unit Video Globe
