POL-ITE SEPAKTAKRAW CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

Tournament Rules and Regulations

The tournament will be played in accordance with the rules and regulations laid down by PERSES.

ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS 2.1 Full-time or part-time matriculated students who are enrolled into the system at the start of tournament. 2.2 Graduating students whose final year results have not been released. (From council: The date of the release of final year results shall be used as the cut-off date to determine a students eligibility to play for the institution concerned)

REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS 3.1 Each competing team, consisting of not less than 9 and not more than 15 players (including reserves), shall register with the convenor on the first day of play to represent the respective institution. 3.2 The Staff-in-charge shall submit to the convenor, the list of players including reserves in the order of play, at least 15 minutes before the commencement of each match. 3.3 Staff-in-charge of competing teams must be present throughout the duration of the match.

FORMAT OF TOURNAMENT 4.1 League System will be played during the tournament.

The team with the highest league points will be declared the champion team. In the case of a tie in placing, the position shall be resolved as follow; 5.3.1 In the event of teams having the same number of points, the difference of the number of regus won against regus lost will decide. 5.3.2 If a tie still occurs, the result of the match played previously between the two teams will decide.

SCORING SYSTEM 6.1 When either serving side or receiving side commits a fault, a point and the next service is awarded to the opposing side. 6.2 The winning point for a set is 21 points, unless the points are tied at 20-20, then the set will be decided on a difference of two points, up to a ceiling of 25 When the score is tied at 20-20, the Umpire announces "Setting up to 25

The match is played in 2 sets with a 2-minute rest in between. If each regu wins one set, the match will be decided in the third set called a "Tiebreak" with the winning points being 15 points, unless the points are 14-14, then the set will be decided on a difference of two points, up to a 17 points. When the score is tied at 14-14, the Umpire announces 17 points". Before a tiebreak set takes place, the Umpire will toss a disc or coin, and the regu winning the toss will have the option of "Choosing Service". The sides takes place when one regu reaches 8 points.

GRACE PERIOD 7.1 All competing teams must be at the venue according to the time stipulated in the fixtures.
7.2

A grace period of 15 minutes will be given to a team for late arrival. Teams will be given 30 minutes grace period after receiving a call due to unforeseen circumstances.

7.3

A team arriving 15 minutes late shall be deemed as contravening the spirit of sportsmanship. The decision to award a walkover will be decided by the convenor.

7.4

Any team that has given a walk-over will be disqualified from the entire

tournament. All matches played against the disqualified team, will be null and void.

UMPIRES 8.1 8.2 The convenor will provide accredited Umpires for all the matches. Each competing team must provide linesmen for their matches.

MATCH BALL 9.1 The convenor will provide the official tournament balls (Marathon match ball) for the entire competition.

ATTIRE
10.1

All players must be suitably attired in T-shirts/Jerseys (No: 1-15), which conform to PERSES rule

POSTPONEMENT OF GAMES
11.1

All postponed matches will be played on a date to be decided by the convenor.

PROTEST 12.1 All protests must be properly lodged in writing by staff-in-charge and submitted to the convenor within 24 hours. 12.2 The sub-committee on receipt of such protest will convene a meeting within 48 hours to decide on the matter. 12.3 The decision of the sub-committee is final.

CODE OF CONDUCT 13.1 13.2 Staff-in-charge is responsible for their students behaviour. Staff-in-charge is to advise their supporters from making too much noise whilst the match is in progress. 13.3 13.4 Players and supporters must refrain from jeering or booing. Staff-in-charge is to advise their students from littering the tournament hall and its premises. 13.5 Officials, players and supporters are to display true spirit of sportsmanship during the tournament.

In all matters not provided for in the Rules and Regulation of this tournament, the sub-committee shall decide and its decisions shall be final.
