FACILITATION SKILLS WORKSHOP


Candidates also learn about key concepts Key Principles, feedback, and process skillsfound in many DDI courses. On Day One, participants review the five dimensions required for certification and key actions/knowledge areas associated with each. They are introduced to course materials and learn how the dimensions are incorporated into the facilitator guides. Participants also learn to use DDIs core interaction skills and techniques. Through a series of self-directed, hands-on activities, participants experience the required dimensions. On Day Two, participants learn to provide effective and developmental feedback. They also use facilitation materials to demonstrate the five dimensions and to practice using a variety of learning methods in their presentation (30-45 minutes). Each participant receives feedback on his or her use of the dimensions and the group discusses how to handle challenging classroom situations. On Day Three, participants deliver their second presentation and receive another round of feedback. On Day Four, participants discuss adult learning principles and explore the various learning methods designed into DDI courses. Also discussed are the components of a successful training implementation and the facilitators important role. Participants also learn how to plan for successful training and to make optimal use of course materials to transfer learning and conduct refresher activities. Those participants who effectively demonstrate the dimensions are awarded facilitator certification.

DESCRIPTION
The Facilitation Skills Workshop develops the competencies required for successful facilitation of DDI courses. Prior to attending the workshop, participants receive prework that focuses on the important role of the facilitator, the certification process, and the essential dimensions (competencies) required to become an effective facilitator.
