Task 1 In order to make Indonesia as the Center of Trade for the world aquaculture commodity (fish and shrimp)

and the Center of Sustainable Aquaculture Development in the Asia Pacific as well as efforts to assist the government in accelerating the achievement of Indonesian aquaculture production increased to 353% in 2014, Indonesian Aquaculture Society (MAI) as a profession institution intends to organize the International Conference of Aquaculture Indonesia (ICAI) in 2010 on October 25th-28th, 2010 and the International Conference on Shrimp Aquaculture (ICOSA) 2010 on October, 28th-30th, 2010 at the Hang Tuah University of Surabaya. ICAI 2010 and ICOSA 2010 carried out aiming to make Indonesia as the host of international activities in scientific meetings and business areas of aquaculture and as a trigger to stimulate the national aquaculture production Task 2 The Analysis of the use and sources of flour and fish oil in artificial feed for fish and shrimp A. Background Fish and shrimp cultivation in Indonesia began with the traditional farming systems, which all the practice rely heavily on natural activity. But then in the 1980s, there was a big demand for fish and shrimp from the farming system that affect manufacturers to increase their production. And then the fish cultivation system headed towards more intensive where the production input is no longer enough to rely solely from nature. Artificial feed became the main requirements in meeting the protein needs of the enlargement process in the farming semi-intensive scale and intensive. One of the emphases in the environmental impact of the cultivation is the fulfillment of the source of protein as components of artificial feed. The main protein sources in artificial feed or pellets are flour and fish oil. The flour and fish oil materials are generally derived from natural fish. Environmental issues that stuck out were the environmental impacts that may result from destructive fishing, and the sustainability of fish stocks in certain regions. Flour and fish oil composition varies for the different type of fish/shrimp feed pellet. Protein needs of carnivore fish are different with herbivore fish. This condition is contributing to the amount of the exploitation of fish resources. Sources of flour and fish oil used in the Indonesian feed mills are mostly imported and some are from the fishing in the Indonesian waters. This study aims to determine the aspect of traceability and sustainability of the ingredients of fish feed.

B. Task 1. Identify the brands of major feed used in fish farming (especially for species of carp, tilapia and shrimp)

2. Analyze the percentage of flour and fish oil on every brand of fish 3. Analyze the traceability of the flour and fish oil sources 4. Make a survey of the sustainability of the flour and fish oil sources, including fishing areas, the availability of fishing areas management, fishing gear, and catch side effects caused. C. Out put 1. Reports the results of the analysis, which includes recommendations on the sustainability components of the feed, and recommendations on the activities that can support traceability by farmers D. Activity Some of the activities to be performed include, but are not limited to: data collection, field surveys as needed, and data analysis, and recommendations for possible arising environmental issues. In conducting the data collection, the consultant needs to communicate intensively with feed manufacturers and the possibility of a catcher / fish collector. E. Execution Time 1. The survey will be conducted on June-August 2011 2. The final report will be handed in on September 5th, 2011
