LOT 1 CALABAR POWER STATION OVERVIEW

Total Plant Capacity : 564.37 MW Gas Turbines: 5 nos GE 9171E, DLN (each 112.87 MW as per site conditions) Each Gas Turbine having one Unit Auxiliary Transformer rated 6/8 MVA which step down voltage from 15kV to 6.6kV. Each Gas Turbine having one Generator Stepup Transformers (GSU) of capacity 143MVA which step up voltage from 15kV to 330kV and feed to the power station switchyard. Switchyard: 1. Consists Switchyard control building equipped with protection panels, metering panels, communication panels & DC System. 2. 4 circuits of 330kV out going lines (Calabar-1, Calabar-2, Ikot Ekpene 1, Ikot Ekepene -2) 3. 150MVA transformer step down from 330 to 132kV 4. 60MVA transformer step down from 132kV to 33kV and feed to 33kV switchyard. 5. 33kV switchyard consists 4 outgoing feeders provision to nearby communities.

The Balance of Plant Consists 1. Fuel gas station receives gas from Plant Metering station (NIPP/NGC). Fuel gas station consists emergency shut of valve , two filter separators, two pressure reducing stations, two water bath heaters, condensate tank etc., 2. 3 nos of Black Start Diesel Generators of capacity each 1.82 MW which is mainly used for start up of generators when the grid is off. 3. 2 nos of Emergency Diesel Generators of capacity each 400 KW which is mainly used to feed emergency power to Gas Turbine and its auxiliaries for plant safe rundown during power out.

4. 2 nos of Air Compressors (276 m3/hr each) which supplies service as well as instrument air to plant equipment. 5. Diesel oil System consists of storage tank and transfer pumps which transfers from tank to individual storage tanks located at EDG and BSDG house. 6. Fire Fighting Pump House: Consists jockey pump, motor driven pump and diesel engine driven pump which maintains constant pressure in the hydrant lines. The hydrant lines are distributed throughout the plant includes Transformers Sprinklers Spray System. And also it consists of water storage tank capacity around 570 m3. 7. Plant Water System consists of raw water tank (570 m3), filtered water tank (220 m3) and demin water tank (10m3), Potable water tanks for Control bldg / Admin bldg/ Switchyard Bldg. 8. Waste water treatment system collects used chemical treated water and also sometimes oil which will treat at the plant before disposal. 9. Fire Truck Station consists of Fire truck equipped with water and foam discharges as well as other types of fire extinguishers. 10. Central Control Building located between two turbine shelters. CCB consists low voltage (415 V) & medium voltage (6.6kV) switch gear rooms in the ground floor. In the first floor consists plant DCS (distributed control system) panels and central control room includes monitoring, control stations from there operator can operate the plant. 11. Administration building 12. Ware house and Work Shop: Sufficient space to store spare parts and work shop equipments like lathe machines, grinding, milling machines etc., 13. Canteen Building 14.
