MICROSOFT SQL SERVER DOWNLOAD & INSTALLATION

If Microsoft SQL Server is not installed on your machine you will be prompted to download and install it. Once Microsoft SQL Server is installed the software will exit. Simply start Eye in the Sky Trade Planning again by using the icon you created on the desktop or quick launch bar, or by selecting it from the All Programs group of the Start Button.

DATABASE CREATION
The first time you run the software, it will create the database. This process may take up to a minute. Please do not close the program while this process is running. This process creates the SQL Server Database that stores all the data for the software. In addition, it loads some default data.

DATA COLLECTION
Eye in the Sky Trade Planning will begin to gather the stock information once you have closed the Help Video Notification screen. This process takes roughly 45 minutes the first time. Data includes 3 years of historical prices for each of the 6,700+ stocks. The data is incremental so it will update much quicker on the following days.

Page 2

The data will refresh after the market closes each day once the historical price data becomes available from Google Finance.

RESIZING THE SECTIONS OF THE SCREEN

There are two methods to resizing the screen:

RESIZER BARS

You will notice that there is a wide black line between the Top Panel and bottom section of the screen. This is known as a resize bar. There is also a resize bar located between the Stock Data Grid and the Data View sections. You can use your mouse to drag these bars, and resize the screen to suit your needs. Put your mouse over the resize bar until the cursor changes to one of the resizing cursors shown below.

The horizontal resize cursor.

The vertical resize cursor.

MINIMIZE/MAXIMIZE BUTTON
You can click the maximize/minimize button on the right side of the screen to resize the top and bottom regions of the screen.

The maximize button will shrink the top half of the screen so that more of the data below can be viewed. This can be very helpful when you are viewing web pages.

The minimize button will expand the top half of the screen back to its original size.

DASHBOARD TAB
The Dashboard tab allows you to create a mile-high view of the pros and cons about the stocks you are considering. You can fully customize the criteria on this screen to fit your needs.

You can tell a lot just by looking at the color of the cells. Here is a description of how the colors are determined for the cells: Green If only PRO rules are satisfied. Yellow If only WARNING rules are satisfied. Red If any ERROR rules are satisfied. Gray No rules were satisfied.

If you hold your mouse over the blue information boxes, you will see the specific warning(s) associated with that cell.

Page 41

THE MY RATING
The My Rating field calculates the overall rating for each stock based on the number of PRO, WARNING and ERROR conditions that are met. The best possible rating is 10. The worst possible rating is 0. Each stock starts with a base rating of 5. The rating is then adjusted based on the following rules. Rule Type PRO Rating Impact The combined impact of all PRO rules is 5 positive points. Each PRO rule is weighted based on the total number of PRO rules. If all PRO rules conditions are met, then 5 will be added to the base rating. WARNING The combined impact of all WARNING rules is 1 negative point (20% of possible 5 negative points). If all WARNING conditions are met, then 1 will be subtracted from the rating. ERROR The combined impact of all ERROR rules is negative 4 points (80% of possible 5 negative points). If all ERROR conditions are met, then 4 will be subtracted from the rating. If you hover over the red exclamation point next to the My Rating field, you will see the number of each type of rule that is satisfied along with the total number of rules defined for that type of condition.

DATABASE CONFIGURATION FILE (OPTIONAL)

The database configuration file allows you to use the same Eye in the Sky Trade Planning on two different machines. If you are using both a desktop and a laptop, it is highly recommended to put the database on the laptop so it is available when you are away from the home or office. NOTE: Only run data collection on one machine when sharing the database among several machines.

FILE NAME
Create a text file with name database.config in one of the following directories: On 32-Bit Versions of Windows: C:\Program Files\Eye in the Sky Screener On 64-Bit Versions of Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Eye in the Sky Screener

FILE CONTENTS
The text file should contain two lines: ServerName=YOUR_SERVER_NAME_HERE InstanceName=YOUR_INSTANCE_NAME_HERE

ServerName

The Server Name is typically the machine name that SQL Server is hosted on. You can find this information by right clicking on My Computer in the Windows Explorer.

InstanceName

The default instance name is SQLEXPRESS when SQL Server is installed.

NOTE: Eye in the Sky Trade Planning uses Windows Authentication to access the SQL Server database. So, if you are planning on sharing the database over a network, be sure to add the same User Account to both the client PC and the Database Server PC. That user account needs Administrative privileges for both Windows and SQL Server.

Page 125

DATABASE ADMINISTRATION

Eye in the Sky Trade Planning is shipped with an external database administration tool. This tool is used to check and fix database errors that may occur. You can find Database Administration in the Eye in the Sky Trade Planning Folder on your Start Menu. Be sure to close Eye in the Sky Trade Planning while running this tool. It requires that no users be connected to the database during some of the operations. 1. 2. Selection an Action from the list. Click the Run button to execute it.

CAUTION: It is strongly recommended to work with our Support Department when running the Repair Database options. It is possible that a failing disk drive may be the cause of the damage. We can assist with diagnosing the problem.

ACTION LIST
The following actions are supported in Database Administration:

Shrink Transaction Log File

Check this box if you would like to be notified when new help videos are downloaded. Shrinks the size of the log file for the current database or empties a file by moving the data from the specified file to other files in the same file group, allowing the file to be removed from the database.

Update Usage

Click this button if you run Check Database Integrity and find a message Run DBCC UPDATEUSAGE in the results. Reports and corrects inaccuracies in the sysindexes table, which may result in incorrect space usage reports by the sp_spaceused system stored procedure.

Repair Database

This button will attempt to repair the database by rebuilding it. Performs minor, non-time-consuming repair actions such as repairing extra keys in nonclustered indexes. These repairs can be done quickly and without risk of data loss. This also includes timeconsuming repairs such as rebuilding indexes. These repairs can be done without risk of data loss.

Repair Database (Allow Data Loss)

As the name indicates this button will attempt to repair the database. However, data loss may occur as a result of the method used. Performs all the tasks listed under Repair Database and includes allocation and deallocation of rows and pages for correcting allocation errors, structural row or page errors, and deletion of corrupted text objects. These repairs can result in some data loss. The repair may be done under a user transaction to allow the user to roll back the changes made. If repairs are rolled back, the database will still contain errors and should be restored from a backup. If a repair for an error has been skipped due to the provided repair level, any repairs that depend on the repair are also skipped. After repairs are completed, back up the database.
