There are many global issues today; Terrorism, Internet security and so on but Human Trafficking is truly the biggest problem. Even though terrorism, internet security and other issues are important to deal with, Human Trafficking is the biggest just because it is everywhere whether its in Africa, with a poor family selling their daughter for 100 dollars or even in your own neighborhood. Human Trafficking violets so many human rights for example, it violates the right to life, the right to leisure, no one has the right to cruel and degrading treatment, everyone has the right to adequate standard of living and worse of all a trafficker is taking away most of a victims human rights when they sell them thinking them as less than human. Human Trafficking isnt only a massive global problem, but it is a business that makes billions every year and its just so easy for traffickers to go around and smuggle people from other countries for slavery. This is easy for them because of police corruption, lack of border control and even if they do get caught the sentence for human trafficking to short? Human trafficking is a growing problem, and there is nothing being done about it. It mainly originates in Asia when a poor family but it also can start in places like New York for example; John was 16 years old when he ran away from his home in Nebraska, hoping to see the country. He arrived in New York City and was quickly stranded once he ran out of money. He was sleeping on the streets and fell in with a group of older homeless youth who introduced him to injecting heroin. Within a few months they also introduced him to some older men who would pay him for sexual favors so that he could afford the heroin that he now needed in order to get through the day (NYC Government). This is a very accurate description of what is happening with human trafficking today and furthermore this shows you that human trafficking can happen anywhere even in one of the biggest cities in the US.

Modern traffickers have many methods to get their victims such as drug luring like with john. One of the biggest problems in human trafficking is probably not how they get their victims, but how they transport them. It is so easy for traffickers to smuggle through people, in South America there are some borders where you can just pay a fee of 5 dollars without even showing a passport. In some cases human traffickers smuggle their victims through borders through cargo ships and other forms of transport that are less risky to smuggle victims. Sometimes when people want to go to another country and theyre not allowed to, they would try to cross the border without being seen. When someone wants this, a human trafficking sees this as an opportunity to get another victim to sell. This all happens because of lack of border security. In addition to this another problem to human trafficking is police corruption. Even though it is extremely easy for a trafficker to smuggle people through they still sometimes get caught and if they are then they just give a bribe to the police to look the other way. So its so easy to bring through people from other countries. It isnt that all police are corrupt as the old saying Everybody has their price and the traffickers have so much money they are able to buy the police. Furthermore, even if Human Traffickers are caught which is very hard for them, the sentence is shorter then smuggling drugs, sentencing someone to a life of pain and rape and taking a person away from their family is only 9 year maximum jail sentence. This is a problem that should really change. Not less than 10 years, and not more than life. If death or serious injury, not less than 20 or more than life. Fine of not more than $10 million if an individual, $50 million if not an individual. This is the jail sentence for getting caught with more than 280 grams. This means that 10 years minimum is being caught with that amount of cocaine which is almost the maximum to human trafficking jail sentence. Human Trafficking is taking away peoples lives even though the victims dont die they are forced to do things against their will for most of their lives, they cant do anything they ever want to do. Something really needs to be done about this. In conclusion, Human Trafficking is a growing global issue that needs to be handled with. It shouldnt be happening so easily. This really needs to stop, it is one of the biggest

problems in the world and so many people are being affected by it and it is still going on because of police corruption, lack of boarder control and also lack of justice. The world would be a much better place if there was no human trafficking.
