its leading technology position. Planning Engineer Planning Engineer.doc Responsibilities As a Planning Engineer, youll provide project management support in the development and maintenance of the activities, logic, resources and progress of the approved integrated project schedule against the baseline. Well also require you to: Set the contract key dates schedule from the interfaces within this schedule Provide the project with the list of plans required to execute the project and the hierarchy of those plans Develop and police the planning and progress monitoring procedures so each element of the project performs the processes consistently Provide the Project Manager with monthly progress updates, forecast completions, together with critical path and trend analyses Assess the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and What if? scenarios to aid project management decision-making Be involved in developing the contract key dates, milestones and Shell plan dates for alignment with the overall integrated plan, by evaluating bid schedules and reviewing contractor plans to support contract award recommendations Verify that the contractors reported progress is correct and accurately reflected in the projects integrated plan Apply p r o b a b i l i s t i c t e c h n i q u e s t o d e t e r m i n e a n d c o m m u n i c a t e t h e p o s s i b l e r a n g e o f s c h e d u l e c o m p l e t i o n d a t e s f o r t h e p r o j e c t . T h i s w i l l i n c l u d e t r a c k i n g s c h e d u l e r i s k m i t i g a t i o n e f f o r t s , t h e c r i t i c a l i t y o f t h e m a i n p a t h s t o c o m p l e t i o n , f l o a t c o n s u m p t i o n a n d t h e r e l e a s e o f t h e 5 0 / 5 0 s c h e d u l e c o n t i n g e n c y R eview scope change requests for the impact on schedules and the critical path of the project Prepare reconciliations between earlier schedules and the current schedule Work with the Cost Engineer and Cost Estimators to ensure alignment of planning and cost control reporting and requirements.

Requirements With a BSc or MSc degree in engineering or its equivalent, youll have substantial experience gained in preparing plans, networks, resource plans, schedules and progress monitoring systems for projects in the onshore and offshore oil and gas industry. Youll also have e x p e r i e n c e o f l e a d i n g p l a n n i n g e n g i n e e r s i n y o u r t e a m a n d d e v e l o p i n g t h e i r c a r e e r s . Well also expect you to be able to read process diagrams, drawings and other design documentation, and have a good understanding of the construction process so that scope and technical changes can be accurately converted into the integrated plan. Youll have a good working knowledge of the necessary processes to control the schedule and progress of a variety of contract types and the ability to work closely with the engineering and contract staff of the project for developing completion date forecasts. This will include a good working knowledge of Primavera P3e, Pertmaster and other planning software packages. Knowledge of SAP planning and control systems would be an advantage.
