Copying and Distribution --------------------------Copying and distribution of TIFF Viewer is permitted with the condition that the TIFF Viewer software, the installer, and the information about license agreemen t, copyright, and registered trademark described in this release note must be in cluded. Any modification or reproduction to the installer program that we provi ded is strictly prohibited. 3. System Requirements ---------------------The following Windows(R) operating systems (Hereafter "OS") are required for TIF F Viewer: Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 98 Second Edition English version (Hereafter Windows(R) 98) Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Millennium Edition English version (Hereafter Windows(R) Me) Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R) 4.0 English version (Service Pack 6a or later) (Herea fter Windows NT(R) 4.0) Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 English version (Service Pack 2 or later) (Hereafte r Windows(R) 2000) Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP English version (Hereafter Windows(R) XP) Microsoft(R) Windows Server(R) 2003 English version (Hereafter Windows Server(R) 2003) Microsoft(R) Windows Vista(R) English version (Hereafter Windows Vista(R)) Microsoft(R) Windows Server(R) 2008 English version (Hereafter Windows Server(R) 2008) Hardware environment is compliant with the recommended value in the respective O S mentioned above, however, we recommend: CPU Pentium 1GHz or higher Memory 256 MB or more Free hard disk space of 10 MB or more** ** More than this amount of free hard disk space is required during installati on. During the actual operation, the required amount of memory depends on the resolu tion and size of the TIFF file you wish to view. 4. Installation --------------To start the TIFF Viewer installation, double-click "setup.exe" or "xdiv.msi" in the distribution package. Please note the following: * Before you begin installation, be sure to exit all running applications. * To install TIFF Viewer in Windows NT(R) 4.0, Windows(R) 2000, Windows(R) XP, W indows Server(R) 2003, Windows Vista(R), and Windows Server(R) 2008, you need th e Administrator's access rights. * During installation, Windows Installer Service must be running on the OS you a re using, as MSI (Microsoft Windows Installer) is required to install TIFF Viewe r. If your system does not have Windows Installer Service, you can download fro m the Microsoft website. You can also install it automatically by running "setup.exe" in this software. (After the installation of Windows Installer Service, you need to restart your O S. The installation of Windows Installer Service is not necessary for Windows(R ) 2000, Windows(R) XP, Windows Server(R) 2003, Windows Vista(R), and Windows Ser

ver(R) 2008 as Windows Installer Service will be running by default.) * If any previous version of TIFF Viewer is installed already, uninstall it by f ollowing the steps described at "5. Uninstallation", and then install the new ve rsion of TIFF Viewer. 4-1. Installation Procedure After decompressing the self-extracting file, run "setup.exe", which resides in the same directory as the decompressed self-extracting file. If Windows Install er Service is running on the OS you are using, start TIFF Viewer Installer by do uble-clicking "xdiv.msi". When TIFF Viewer Installer is started, follow the instructions to install the so ftware. If you do not specify the install destination, the program will be installed in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Fuji Xerox\TIFF Viewer\ (If your system drive is "C:") 5. Uninstallation ----------------You can uninstall TIFF Viewer using [Add/Remove Programs] in Control Panel. Click [Start] from Task Bar and select [Control Panel]. Open [Add/Remove Progra ms] in Control Panel. Select [TIFF Viewer] from the list and click [Change/Remove]. Follow the instructions to uninstall the program. When the uninstallation is co mpleted, a message indicating that the uninstallation is completed will appear. 6. Starting and Exiting TIFF Viewer ----------------------------------6-1. Starting TIFF Viewer Click [Start] from Task Bar and select [All Programs] > [Fuji Xerox] > [TIFF Vi ewer], and then [TIFF Viewer]. This procedure will activate TIFF Viewer and dis play the window. You can also start TIFF Viewer as follows: After the completion of the installation, the ".tif" file and ".tiff" file will be configured to start TIFF Viewer. Right-click the icon with extension ".tif" or ".tiff" and select [Open] or [Open from Application] > [TIFF Viewer] from the menu displayed. This procedure will activate TIFF Viewer and display the window. 6-2. Exiting TIFF Viewer Select [Exit] from the [File] menu. If you have rotated the page displayed, a message to confirm whether you wish to save the rotated image will be displayed before exiting TIFF Viewer. Click [Yes] to save the rotated image and enter a new file name. 7. Notes and Limitations -----------------------7-1. Installation (1) During the installation of TIFF Viewer, the file extensions ".tif" and ".tif f" will be associated with TIFF Viewer. If you have already associated ".tif" f

ile and ".tiff" file with an application other than TIFF Viewer in [Folder Optio n] from [Tools] in Explorer, the setting will be applied. In Windows(R) 98 and Window NT(R) 4.0, the file extensions ".tif" and ".tiff" are associated with TIF F Viewer by default. For more details about the association between file extens ions and applications, refer to Windows(R) Help. 7-2. TIFF Viewer Operation (1) TIFF Viewer consumes system memory according to the size and resolution of a TIFF file to be displayed. If you want to display a high-resolution file or a file with many pages, be sure to configure the system, for example, by increasin g the virtual memory so that it can reserve sufficient memory. (2) In Windows(R) 98 and Windows(R) Me, if you specify a high zoom ratio of 400% , the image may not be displayed properly depending on the number of pixels of t he TIFF file to be displayed. This is because Windows(R) 98 and Windows(R) Me l imit the memory size of drawings. (3) In Window(R) 98 or Windows(R) Me, when you print TIFF Viewer images, the ima ges may not be printed or previewed correctly if your printer is configured to p rint at a high resolution. To solve this problem, reduce the resolution of your printer and print again. For more details, refer to Microsoft Technical Suppor t Information 128345. (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;128345) (4) When you start TIFF Viewer software, you may recieve the message "Error 1706 , No valid source could be found...", if you installed TIFF Viewer from the inst allation package on newtwork drive or removable media. The problem will occur if the TIFF Viewer installation package is not accesible when the TIFF Viewer star ts initially. To solve the problem, you must map the network drive or removable media as same as you installed the software befor starting the TIFF Viewer. For more details, refer to Microsoft Technical Support Information 299803. (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;299803) (5) If you open TIFF that includes XXXX character, you may receive the message " XXXX..." and TIFF Viewer may come to a close. To solve the problem, you should change the TIFF file name that doesn't include XXXX character. 7-3. Others (1) TIFF Viewer cannot display a TIFF file saved in Picture and Fax Viewer in Wi ndows(R) XP as the compression type (LZW) not supported by TIFF Viewer is applie d to the TIFF file. The same problem occurs when you change the properties of a TIFF file in Explorer. (2) TIFF Viewer cannot display a TIFF file saved in Imaging in Windows(R) 98/NT/ 2000. TIFF Viewer supports TIFF standard format of JPEG6 (Conformable to RFC), b ut Imaging cannot create TIFF standard format of JPEG6 (Conformable to RFC). You cannot display image file, which is saved by Imaging, and [Invalid image att ributes.] message is displayed. (3) EasyOperator(R) cannot print TIFF file after installing TIFF Viewer, so you should have to print TIFF file using TIFF Viewer when you install TIFF Viewer.
