Created by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) ISO 9000 is an internationally recognised quality management system. ISO which was created in 1946 Geneva, Switzerland to standardize quality requirement within the European market.
Prefix ISO in the name refers to the scientific term iso for equal. Thus, certified organizations are assured to have quality equal to their peers.
Standards are recognized by countries including Japan and USA. 100
ISO standards provides the foundation on which an organization can build their quality management and quality assurance systems, ultimately in order achieve a high level of success.

Generic means that the same standards can be applied: to any organization, large or small, whatever its product or service, in any sector of activity, and whether it is a business enterprise, a public administration, or a government department.
