This is Global Warming

9/8/12

And this is Global

But how did it get from this

To this?

9/8/12

What is Global Warming?

9/8/12

Global Warming is the rise in temperature of the Earths atmosphere.

9/8/12

This happens when Greenhouse gases like Carbon Dioxide trap the heat and light from the sun in the Earths Atmosphere. This is also called The 9/8/12 Greenhouse Effect.

Surprisingly, water vapour makes up an average of 60% of the Greenhouse Gases.

9/8/12

What causes Global Warming?

9/8/12

Pollution does

9/8/12

We are burning fossil fuels which emit pollution like carbon dioxide into 9/8/12 the atmosphere to generate electricity.

Because of this, the fossil fuels are decreasing rapidly, 9/8/12 and most of it may be gone by the end of the

Transportation contributes to the Carbon 9/8/12 emissions

Chopping down the rainforest does

9/8/12

9/8/12

By taking away the trees, we are losing our source of oxygen and filter for carbon dioxide.

Not only that 9/8/12

where are the animals going to live?

What are the effects of Global Warming?

9/8/12

It causes draughts, nothing can survive something like this. 9/8/12 The ground is ruined, the water is lost.

It causes the glaciers 9/8/12 to melt

which will make the sea 9/8/12 levels rise

and increase flooding in coastal 9/8/12 areas

9/8/12

Where will the polar bears go?

Where will the penguins go?

9/8/12

The glaciers reflect sun rays back into space because they are white. If they are absent, only the sea will be left. It is dark and will absorb more heat into the atmosphere

9/8/12

It increases the chance of heat waves and the problems it makes

9/8/12

It causes forest fires to be more common

9/8/12

It causes eco systems to fail, like the coral reefs under the sea. The increasing amount of carbon dioxide turns the sea acidic and make the coral reefs bleach

9/8/12

What can we do to stop Global Warming?

9/8/12

Use public transport or share cars with other people if you are going to the same place to decrease the amount of carbon emissions

9/8/12

Switch to companies who use renewable energy like 9/8/12 wind power

Or install solar panels

9/8/12

Use energy efficient light bulbs and switch lights off when rooms are empty

9/8/12

Reuse plastic bags to decrease the production which includes using oil

9/8/12

Recycle, paper especially so less trees will be cut down

9/8/12

Take more showers instead of baths to reduce the amount of 9/8/12 hot water used

Participate in the annual Earth Hour event, where as many people in the world as possible turn off all electrical appliances for an hour. This year, it was at 8:30pm on the 26th of March.
