What might happen if Mitt Romney becomes President

What will happen to jobs?

If Mitt Romney slashes and burns his way through the Budget, using Austerity measures what will happen to Job Growth in the United States? If the United Kingdom and Greece is any measure, nothing good. Both countries have spent the year in negative territory.

American Industry?

Mitt Romney said to let Detroit go bankrupt. Whats often left out was he was against any federal money going to rescue GM and Chrysler. He wanted the companies broken up. Romney made his money buying up companies, burdening them with debt, letting them go bankrupt, while making sure he and his partners got paid first.

Cut PBS? Seriously?

One place Mitt Romney has been specific on is cutting PBS Funding as a way of tackling the Budget Deficit. No, seriously. Federal funding makes up just 15 percent of the budget of public broadcasting. The funding for PBS represents just 1/100th of 1 percent of the federal budget.

Binders full of-say that again?

Mitt Romney didnt offer a single policy or solution when asked about the problem of pay discrimination, just anecdotes. While the President talked about women as breadwinners, Romney talked about them as resumes in binders. In a follow-up question, one Romneys top advisors admitted that the Governor opposed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009.

Raise your taxes, cut his.

Romney plans to pass one of the largest tax cuts for the wealthy in history ($4.8 Trillion dollars) by raising middle class taxes while cutting key investments for families. Wants to extend the Bush Tax Cuts on top of his $4.8 Trillion dollar tax cut. (Thats the big orange blob in our Deficit graphic.)

Medicare as a Voucher system

The Romney/Ryan Medicare plan calls for an end to Medicare for people 55 and under. Will charge more for preventive care, and prescription drugs. Will force new retirees to pay thousands more for care, while giving tax cuts to millionaires.

Still severely Conservative.

He has vowed to repeal every one of President Obamas major reforms including: Health Care Reform, Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Dont AskDont Tell.

Wont sign the DREAM Act.

Will defund Planned Parenthood.

Still severely Conservative.

Has said Iraq and Afghanistan withdrawal was a mistake. Said it wasnt worth going after Usama Bin Laden. Has supported the Blount Amendment, which would allow Employers to limit Health Care based entirely on a bosses moral objection.

The Supreme Court

Still the number one reason to Vote for President.

Do you really want Mitt Romney pick a Supreme Court Justice, let along another guy like this? (Thats Justice Antonin Scalia in case you dont know.)

What can you do?

What can you do to help the Pasadena Area United Democratic Headquarters?

Doing the work to win.

We do the work that makes winning elections possible. We dont make TV Ads. Were not working debate prep. Were not holding big rallies, and putting on rock concerts. We are an independent organization. We are the front lines. Were the ones making phone calls. Were the ones knocking on doors. Were the ones registering voters.

You can make Phone Calls

Now, the United Democratic Headquarters have 40,000 voter contacts to make, were about halfway to our goal with a month to go.

You can knock on some doors

We are three weeks in to sending out Walk Teams out to talk to Democrats and get them out to the polls. Soon, well be launching our Get Out The Vote effort, placing Door Hangers on 17,000 doors in Pasadena, Arcadia and Eagle Rock.

You can help register Voters.

We have registered bout 2,200 new voters. The deadline for California is this Monday, October 22, 2012. Your application must be postmarked by that date.

You can shop at our Store.

The UDH Campaign Store is our primary source of revenue for Campaign Operations. It pays 75% of our operating expenses.

Purchases made at the store help keep the lights on, pay for the phones, as well as food to support our Volunteers.

You can come to Oktoberfest

Were having a party at the fabulous Hillmont House in Pasadena, and youre all invited. The party will be at: 939 N. Hill Ave., Pasadena, CA, this Sunday from 2-4pm. Tickets for Students (with I.D.) are $10. Theyre $35 for everyone else. Brats, Beer, and fun for all

Well take what you can give.

Were not asking for your whole day. Well take an hour. Dont have an hour? Help us keep the lights on by buying a TShirt, or a bumper sticker, or a button. If youre still unsure just come by the store. Take a look around. See what were about. I think youre going to find that despite all the hard work, what we do at the UDH is not only gratifying, but fun as well.

Its worth the effort.

This is your life. This is not about getting one man, or one Party elected. This is about how our lives matter in the greater scheme of things. That we should have priority over the big banks and the big corporations. That this is about an economy that is coming back, that is bringing jobs back, that is moving forward, and how that is going to benefit everyone as a result.

Its worth the effort.

You matter. Your vote matters. Dont ever think otherwise.
