As a man contemplates sense-objects, attachment for them arises, from attachment, desire for them will be born, from desire arises anger, from anger comes delusion, from delusion comes loss of memory, from loss of memory comes destruction of discrimination, and from destruction of discrimination, he perishes.
4. Yad-yadacharati srestha tat-tad evetaro janah Sa yat pramanam kurute lokas tad anuvartate [ 2 47 ]
What-so-ever a great man does, that other men do; whatever he sets up as the standard, that the world follows.
5. Sraddhavan labhate jnanam tatparah samyatendriyah Jnanam labdhva param santim achirenadhi gacchati - [ 4 39 ]
The man of faith, having controlled the senses, having knowledge as his supreme goal obtains Knowledge of ATMA, and having obtained that enjoys peace ere long.
7. Yuktahara viharasya yukta chestasya karmasu Yukta svapnavabodhasya Yogo bhavati duhkhaha- [ 6 17 ]
For him who is moderate in food and recreation, moderate in all actions, moderate in sleep and wakefulness, YOGA destroys all pain and suffering (caused by birth and death).
8. Yat karoshi yad asnasi jaj juhoshi dadasi yeat Yat tapasyasi kaunteya tat kurusva madarpanam - [ 9 27 ]
Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer in sacrifice, whatever you give as charity, whatever you perform as austerity, that (all) do as offering unto Me.
9. Adveshta sarva bhutanam maitrah karuna eva cha Nirmamo nirahamkarao samaduhkhasukhah kshami - [ 12 13 ]
Who does not hate any being, who is friendly and compassionate, who is free from attachment and egoism, who is equal-minded in sorrow and happiness, who is forgiving he (such a devotee) My Bhakta is dear to me.
