Derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal is the worlds largest and publisher of International Standards ISO standards are developed by technical committees (suncommittes or project committees) comprising experts from the industrial, technical and business sectors.

Today, BS 7750 has been withdrawn and replaced by international standard ISO 14001

EC introduce it as a regulation but participation in the scheme is voluntary

The scheme does not provide standards of environmental performance
