Communication

Communication involves exchange of information, ideas, views, and opinions, between two or more parties .

A]Traditional modes of communication:


Postal services- the services of carrying letters and parcels ,arranging remittance of money ,accepting deposits of money ,etc.

Types of postal services:


A)Mail services1.Post card:-It is the cheapest means of written communication. It is a card on both sides of which we an write our message.

2. Inland letter card:- Like post card ,written message can also be send using inland letter card. This card is sold by post officers and is commonly used for sending message within our country.

3.Enevolpe :- It is a small size paper packet having one side open. After keeping your enclosure init, you need to close it and send it to the receiver.

4.Telegram:-Telegram is an important medium of sending message to distant places ,whatever message the sender writes in the telegram ,it is communicated in the same form to the receiver. 5.Telephone:-talking to a person in the same city is called a local call and talking to a person in same other city is trunk call. Telephone is the best medium for quick communication both in and outside country.

2.Specialized mail services


I. UPC (Under postal certificate ):- The UPC is now rarely used service whereas this service of post and telegraph department was frequently used before the many courier service came into. 2.Registered post :- The object of registered post to provide secure transmission of customers articles. A record is kept all stages as the article passes through .also the registered articles are transmitted under spection precuation.

3.VPP (value payable by post):-The value payable post is for the person who wish to pay for the articles and also to meet the requirements of tenders. 4.Post rest ante:-When it is necessary to send letter to person whose exact address is not known ,you can send it to the post master of that area in which the receiver resides. These letter are called post rest ante letter. 5.Speed post :- post office provides time- bound as well as guaranteed mail delivery through it,s speed post service.

3. MONEY REMMITANCE SERVICES


Money order :- a money order is an order issued by the post office for the payment of a sum of a order money to the person to whom it is sent through the post office.

Instant money order:-IMO is an instant web based money transfer service through which one can transfer money frmrs.50,000 from designed IMO post offices.
International money transfer :_ Money transfer service scheme is a quick and easy way of transferring personal remittances. International money transfer is now available trough post office in India.

Money order videsh :-Money order videsh is a new offering of Indian post to facilitate remittance to foreign countries and receiving the remittances from foreign countries through the medium of post office.

Foreign exchange service :-many Indian go abroad for multiple purpose and also large no of foreign tourist ,s visit India on vocation and business. The need arose for a reliable and quality services provider for purchase and sale of foreign exchange.

4. Retail service
1. Bill mail:- Communication in the form of
financial statements ,bills , monthly a/c or any such other items of similar nature may be posted by services provider to customer at least once in90 days under this service.

2. Retail post: - Retail post includes services


like collection of electricity bills ,telephone bills, insurance premium ,collection of taxes and fees for the government.

3.E-payment :- E-payment is a Many to one service


through which bill i.e telephone, electricity, icici etc are paid by customers in post officers.

Modern modes of Communication:During the last 4 years many modes of communication have been developed with the help of these medium messages can be communicated to other places quickly ,safely and confidentially. These services are of 2types-

1. Courier services :A courier a person or company


who deliver messages ,packages and mail . The worlds largest Courier companies are DHL , FEDEX,TNT ,UPS AND AROMEX

2. Electronic Service:- Technological development has made it

possible to exchange messages with the help of many electronic services .the popular electronic services are as follows:-

A) FAX- It refers to that electronic machine through which a written message can send to any part of the world at the utmost speed . B) INTERNET- The IT has covered a long distance and reached a stage when the whole world seems to have confined itself in a single room. C) E-MAIL- E-MAIL is that system of electronic letter exchanging in which through the medium of internet the messages are exchanged on the computer .Here receiver is not necessary ,we keep them stored in his computer

Wireless communication:1. pager services pager communication was


successfully launched in India in year1995 . pagers were looked upon as devices that offered the much needed mobility in communications ,especially for business.

2.Mobile communication-A basic mobile phone


is a device that can make and receive calls and send text messages. There are smart phones are also available.

3. Broad band

communication- After USA ,

JAPAN India stands 3rd largest internet users of which 40% of internet is used via-mobile phones.

4. Next generation network (NGN)- Next


generation Network, Multiple Access networks can connect customers to a core network based on IP technology.

5. Indian satellites- India has launched


more than 50 satellites of various types . The organization working for Indian space research organization ( ISRO).
