OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT OF ROOFING TILES INDUSTRY

Introduction
The Monier Groups products are recognized for the largest range, quality, durability and wide choices of colors of roof tiles. Tile roofs are very vulnerable to breakage from windborne (missiles). To prevent this problem, Monier Group had planned to introduce a series of roof tiles with high quality and the lowest cost to markets. debris

Product Design

The design of a well performing highly energy efficient roof system requires a good understanding of how heat, air and moisture enter and leave the roof construction. The Monier Technical Centre has studied the performance of different constructions, both in buildings and in the laboratory. This knowledge has been used to develop state-of-the-art software capable of predicting the energy performance and condensation risk of virtually any roof construction in any climate.

Application of Decision Tree in Product Design

There are 3 options of designing a product which are;
using low technology by hiring several new junior engineers, high technology by using the very best of the inside staffs, the latest computer-aided design technology which is using the software mentioned together with a subcontract.

After calculations, we found that the best decision to design a new series of roof tiles is by using the high-technology design strategy because it has the lowest cost of RM133, 000.
