LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
Understand the nature, purpose and usage of a Reaction Paper; and Prepare a Reaction Paper
REACTION PAPER
Usages:
To present an individuals own ideas / views on a certain topic; To develop the critical thinking skills of the individual; and To develop the writing ability of the individual
1. INTRODUCTION (Part I)
State the article, author, publication / film / occasion;
Give a brief summary of what you read / viewed / listened to; and
State your thesis statement (agree/ disagree / Identify / evaluate)
Topic sentence of each paragraph should support the thesis statement; and
Last sentence should lead into the next paragraph
3. CONCLUSION/RECOMMENDATION (Part III) Restate what you said in your paper; Comment on your overall reaction; Predict the effects of what you are reacting to; and
How do you feel about what you are reading? What do you agree or disagree with? Can you identify with the situation? What would be the best way to evaluate the story?
Develop your ideas by adding examples, quotations, and details to your paragraphs.
Make sure the last sentence of each paragraph leads into the next paragraph. Check your thesis and make sure the topic sentence of each paragraph supports it.
