IT-BPO SECTOR

The IT-BPO sector has become one of the most significant growth catalysts for the Indian economy. The sector is estimated to aggregate revenues of USD 88.1 billion in FY2011, with the IT software and services sector (excluding hardware) accounting for USD 76.1 billion of revenues. - NASSCOM Indian IT-BPO revenues may touch US$ 225 billion by 2020. - NASSCOM

The BPO sector continues to be the fastest growing segment of the industry and is expected to have reached US$ 14.1 billion in 2010-11, growing at 14 per cent Indias domestic market for BPO is projected to grow over 23 per cent to touch US$ 1.4 billion in 2011. Gartner Indias domestic BPO market would reach US$ 1.69 billion in 2012 and increase to US$ 2.47 billion by 2014. Gartner

ITeS, which started with basic data entry tasks over a decade ago, is witnessing an expansion in its scope of services. Services such as knowledge process outsourcing (KPO), legal process outsourcing (LPO), games process outsourcing (GPO) and design outsourcing are gaining prominence.

UID Unique Identification Number

Brand name of the Unique Identification number (UID) Aadhaar. Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number which the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will issue for all residents. The number will be stored in a centralised database and linked to the basic demographics and biometric information photograph, ten fingerprints and iris of each individual. They can use Aadhar to identify themselves anywhere in India, and to access a host of benefits and services.

UID - Authentication

The process through which the Aadhaar number of a resident , along with other attributes (including biometrics) are submitted to the Central Identities Data Repository for its verification and such Repository verifies the correctness thereof on the basis of information or data or documents available with it.

The response from the CIDR to a authentication query will only be a positive or a negative response, the UIDAI shall not give out the demographic or biometric information of a resident in response to an authentication query.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing, broadly defined, is the ability for organizations to share critical computing infrastructure (e.g. servers, storage, etc.) and related services over the internet.

Supply chain management (SCM) is the process of planning, implementing, and controlling the operations of the supply chain as efficiently as possible.
