Introduction

It is Indias largest integrated and first telecom service provider with a footprint in all the 23 telecom circles. The Business at Bharti Airtel has been structured in to three individual Strategic Business Unit (SBUs) Mobile Service, Airtel Telemedia Services and Enterprise Service. Here, Airtel Telemedia Service Business offers broandband and telephone services in 94 cities.

History
Bharti Tele-Ventures was incorporated on July 7, 1995 for promoting telecommunications services. Bharti Tele-Ventures received certificate for commencement of business on January 18, 1996. The Company was initially formed as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharti Telecom Limited. The above named launched cellular services AirTel in Delhi in 1995. Then after in 1996, Bharti Telenet launched Cellular Service in Himachal Pradesh. In 1998, First Indian private fixed-line services launched in Indore in the Madhya Pradesh circle on June 4, 1998 by Bharti Telenet thereby ending fixed-line services monopoly of DoT (now BSNL). In 2004 AirTel enrolls 50,000 customers in its mobile service in 60 days & AirTel has extended its mobile connectivity to Karaikkal, Nagur, Mannargudi and Kovilpalayam in Tamil Nadu circle.

Bharti Airtel to Offer HTC touch in India Bharti Airtel, a leading mobile service provider has tied up with HTC a Taiwan based mobile company to offer HTC Touch, a Microsoft Windows-based smartphone in the country in 2007.

PCO Service launched by Airtel, in MSRTC buses In 2007, Mobile phone service provider Airtel, has introduced Airtel PCO services in MSRTC Buses (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation), thereby becoming the first-ever service provider to offer this service across Maharashtra, India.

Bharti Airtel Slash Roaming and Scrap Rental Rates Bharti Airtel have not only cut-down roaming tariffs but have also waived off the rental rates for roaming services. The new tariffs and reductions, which are levied from today onwards, follow the guidelines laid down by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in January in 2007.
