Incident/accident Investigation
Investigation aims to explore the facts related to incident / accident in order to find root causes of the problem and develop recommendations to prevent similar incidents do not occur again. Investigation do not intended for blaming Garuda Indonesia conduct internal investigation of incident/accident. In the event of serious incident or accident, Garuda Indonesia become part of the team in the process of investigation conducted by Komite Nasional Kecelakaan Transportasi (KNKT/NTSC)

All Pilot, cabin crew, FOO & Mechanics are periodically get SMS awareness through recurrent training. New hire personnel also introduced with SMS in Garuda Indonesia during basic indoctrination. E-learning method is selected as an alternate method to communicate SMS and DAMP (Drug & Alcohol Management Program) throughout all Garuda Indonesia employees

Family Assistant
Family Assistance Center (FAC) is an integral part of a comprehensive Emergency Response Plan (ERP), responsible to take care families of passengers involved in the accident such as arrange travel, accommodation, immediate financial assistance, provide mental health, counseling services, etc. GA has recruited 405 volunteers up to December 2012 from all units and trained them as Family Assistant (FA). GA in progress recruiting another 400 volunteers for Family Assistance in 2013.

IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certification


The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. All IATA members are IOSA registered and must remain registered to maintain IATA membership. Since 2008 Garuda Indonesia has obtained IOSA certification and successfully maintain it during re-certification every 2 years. There are only 380 IOSA registered airlines in the world and Garuda Indonesia is the first and the only IOSA registered airline in Indonesia.

Summary
Aviation Safety at Garuda Indonesia is in compliance with applicable regulation and industrial best practices. Management of Garuda Indonesia is committed to safety and supported by all employee. Safety culture development has become priority since 2005 and indicating improvement as shown by increased number of safety report and reduced incident rate.
