o Daun Bhd is a multinational corporation that manufacturers consumer

electronic products.

o The products are Dphone and Dtablet Computer.


o Before 2012, it suffered rocky sales and thus it cannot satisfied their

stakeholders.

o Then Daun Bhd introduce Dpod Music Player in 2012 and it proud to be

the turning point for that company.

o En. Mail (CEO of Daun Bhd) and his heterogeneous top management team

had transferred Daun Bhd into very successful and profitable company.

o However, in recent press release, En. Mail announce to retire and this

matter brings dilemma to Daun Bhd.s BOD to select the new CEO.

A heterogeneous top management team composed of individuals with different functional background, experience and education. A homogeneous top management consists of individuals with the same background, experience and education. In my opinion, the heterogeneous top management team would lead to better strategic decisions compared to homogeneous. This is because the heterogeneous give different ideas and perspectives that will increase the quality of teams decisions especially when a synthesis emerges within the team. Mostly the characteristics of heterogeneous top management team are positively associated with innovation and strategic changes also they will creative in making decisions. Based on current case, En. Mail and his heterogeneous management team has success produce their innovative product Dpod Music Player which prove to be the turning point for the company.

Definition of Balance Scorecard :-

A framework firm that can be use to evaluate whether they have achieved the appropriate balance among the strategic and financial controls to attain the desired level of firm performance.

Allows the firm to understand how it looks to the shareholders. (Financial

Perspective) Examples : Return on Equity (ROE), Return on Asset (ROA), and Cash Flow in the company.
Allows to understand what the process that they must emphasizes to

successfully use it competitive advantages. (Learning & Growth Perspective) Examples: Improvement in innovation ability, Increase in employees skills.
Allows to understand what it can do to improve its performance in order to

grows. (Internal Business Process) Examples : Assets utilization improvements.

The advantages of selecting the new CEO from the internal managerial labour market are: a. Internal labour market has experience with the firm and the industry environment in which it competes.
