Four main business: Shipbuilding & Machinery, Plant & Engineering, Shipping & Trading and Energy. Shipbuilding & Machinery: Materials for shipbuilding, engines, and all other necessary components to build a vessel beyond the ship itself.

Plant & Engineering: EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) projects for desulfurization, power generation, steel, chemical, cement, and desalination. Shipping & Trading: High-quality transportation services in tanker, containership, car carrier, and LNG (Liquefied natural gas) sectors and also as bulk carrier sector.

Energy: Active participation in private district heating and cooling and power generation business, resource development and commercialization of energy.

Shipbuilding Affiliates

STX PanOcean: Dry bulk shipping market and non-dry bulk sectors such as car carrier service, tanker service, OSV (Offshore Support Vessel) service, container service and gas carrier service. STX Dalian Shipyards: Integrated shipbuilding and machinery production system in Dalian, China. The global center of the STX network that connects China, Europe and Korea.

STX Offshore & Shipbuilding: One of the main points the ability to build and design high value-added ships. Based on three of its affiliates (Europe, STX Dalian Shipbuilding Complex, and Jinhae shipyard), the STX is the only group in the world capable of building all types of ships. STX Europe ASA: The main product are ships with high added value. Based on original technologies over 270 years. The top 15 ships in the world relative to the size were built by STX Europe. The company also offers quality ship maintenance services. STX Engine: Produce diesel engines, military engines with high power output and ultra-lightness, drill ships and FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) and engines for other industrial applications.

STX Marine Service: Provide services that follows the strict rules with regard to vessels and supply all kinds of needs of its consumers. The objective is to provide total world-class marine serve.

Situation Analysis:

Brazilian Shipyards order book has 367 orders for Shipbuilding and Offshore construction. Brazil is currently the 4th biggest drilling unit builder and the 2nd in production platform construction. 78.000 workers directly employed. In 2017 the estimate is to reach 100.000 workers.

FINAL EVALUATION

Oil and shipping, important factors to help the growing of the shipbuilding market. Brazil has good potential to become one of the largest countries in shipbuilding.

Brazilian shipyards have a big demand because of Petrobras.


Globalization of the technology makes easier to build high quality ships and offshore platforms.
