Text : Ezekiel 16: 1-14 This chapter is a declaration of Gods Grace on the people of Jerusalem. This is also a picture of Gods grace in the lives of everyone who places their faith in Him. OUR CONDITIONS BEFORE SALVATION : 1. AS LOST SINNERS WE WERE UNCLEAN. (verse 4) The child has never been washed.
Isaiah 64:6 Romans 3:10,23
2. AS LOST SINNERS WE WERE UNCARED FOR. (verse 4-5) The childs umbilical cord was not cut, neither was it washed, salted or swaddled. No one cared if it live or die.
Proverbs 13:15 Psalms 142:4 3. AS LOST SINNERS WE WERE UNCLOTHED. (verse 4) This child had been thrown into an open field naked, and exposed to the elements. 2 Corinthians 5:21 4. AS LOST SINNERS WE WERE UNCLAIMED. (verse 5) No one wanted this child. Neither mother nor father would claim it as their own. We were orphaned and all alone in this world without God.
Ephesians 2:12
5. AS LOST SINNERS OUR SITUATION WERE UNCONTROLLABLE. (v.4-5)
This new born baby was totally helpless to change its condition/situation. We were lost, we were in a shape and situation that we cannot change. God pictures Himself as One passing by who sees the child & stooped down to rescue it from a certain death. This is also the picture of what the LORD has done to everyone who placed their faith in Him. HOW GOD REVEALED HIS GRACE: 1. HE CAME TO US. (verse 6) Knowing this childs inability to come to Him, God made the first move. John 6:44 Luke 19:10
We should be grateful that the LORD is the One who is seeking & saving sinners today. 2. HE HAD COMPASSION ON US. (v.8) In spite of our sinful condition, God still loved us. He looked upon sinful man and saw what needed to be done and He did.
Romans 5:8 John 3:16 3. HE COMMANDED US TO LIVE. (v.6) The LORD commanded the child to live. The LORD gives us eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ.
John 6:47 1 John 5:11-12 4. HE COVERED US WITH HIMSELF. (v.9) The Lord stooped down and spread His garment over this child thereby covering its nakedness. When we got saved, we entered into a place of shelter where we are forever covered by the LORD. 5. HE CLAIMED US AS HIS OWN. (v.8)
The spreading of the garment over another was used to claim that one as your own. When we were saved, we were also claimed by the LORD. He adopted us into His family. Read : EPHESIANS 1:5 6. HE MADE A COVENANT WITH US. (v.8)
God entered into a covenant with this one He had claimed. When we got saved, God also entered into a covenant with us. 7. HE CLEANSED US. (v.9)
God took this one He loved and thoroughly washed away all the impurities from her. When the LORD saved us, He washed us whiter than snow. Read: ISAIAH 1:18 When God saved your soul, He washed you absolutely, perfectly and purely clean.
1 John 1:7 Psalm 103:12 8) HE HEALED AND ANOINTED US. (v.9) Oil was used as medicine in those days. He cured this child from all the ailments that affected her. We have also been anointed that brings healing to our spirit, soul and body. 9. HE CONSECRATED US. (v.9) Oil is the picture of the Holy Spirit. When the LORD saved us, He has placed His Spirit in us. (1 Corinthians 12:13)
At the moment of salvation, we Become the living temple of God. (1 Corinthians 3:17 / Romans 8:9) : THE WONDROUS CHANGE : 1. WE HAVE BEEN CLOTHED. (v.10)
At the moment of salvation, we were clothed with the righteousness of Christ Himself. (Philippians 3:9 / Galatians 3:27) 2. WE HAVE BEEN MADE COMELY. (V.11-14) God has done the same things to everyone of us who believed in His son by saving us; blessing us; changing us; gifting us and using us. 3. WE HAVE BEEN CROWNED. (v.12) God did the same to us. He literally crowned her life with His glory. God blessed us and raised us up to sit with Him in His throne. 4. WE HAVE BEEN CHANGED. (v.14) When God came to us, He changed us By His great power and made us new Creatures through His grace.
