What for?
Mission: Conserve the biological diversity in the
Amazon.
Vision: The Amazon Conservation Association aims to
protect the forests by creating a network of state,
community, and private lands managed for conservation
and sustainable use of resources.
History

Created in 1999
Ecologists Adrian Forsyth and Enrique Ortiz
Partnership with the organization Asociacin para la
Conservacin de la Cuenca Amaznica (ACCA) and the
Asociacin para la Conservacin e Investigacin de
Ecosistemas AndinoAmaznicos (ACEAA)

Biological Stations and Reserves
Los Amigos Conservation Concession and Biological
Station:
Private conservation of 360,000 acres which
promotes forest protection, research, conservation
education, and natural resource management training

Conservation and Sustainable
Livelihoods

Brazil Nut Program:
Program that supports over 500 nut harvesters in Peru and
Bolivia to ensure their livelihood while also protecting
forests through technical support, training and other
means.

Effectiveness of the Brazilian Nut
Program

Successful?
Yes! It has not only increased the amount of Brazil Nuts,
but it has given reasons for not cutting down trees and
messing with the Amazon forests
What I think and What I would
do
I believe that this program is important because it saves
forests, protects the Amazons creatures, provides foods,
fiber, and what is used to make medicines, and keeps
the 20% of the worlds fresh water flowing perfectly

I would donate money to help them with their research

The way peoples lives would be affected by this is by
preserving the food, fibers, medicines, and water people
need, and increase the profit of the nuts.
