Introduction

Five pen pc shortly called P-ISM(Pen Style Personal

Networking Gadget Package ) is nothing but the new

discovery which is under developing stage by NEC
CORPORTION.
P-ISM is a gadget package including five function a
CPU pen , Communication pen with a cellular phone
function , Virtual keyboard , a very small projector and
a camera.
P-ISM are connected with one another through shortrange wireless technology.
The set is connect t the internet through cellular
phone function.

COMPONENT NAME

HISTORY
The prototype device dubbed the P-ISM was pen style Personal

Networking Gadget created in 2003 by Japanese Technology

Company NEC.
The P-ISM was featured at the 2003 ITU Telecom world held in
Geneva Switzerland.
The designer of the 5 pen technology , Toru Ichihash said that
In developing this concept he aksed himself- what the future
of IT when it is small ?.
The pen was logical choice.
He also wanted a product that you could touch and feel further.
However , although a conceptual prototype of the pen computer
was built in 2003.
Such device are not yet available to consumer.

CPU PEN
The functionality of the CPU is done one of the pen.
It is also known as computing engine.
It consist of dual core processor embedded in it and it works with

WINDOWS operation system.

The central processing unit is the portion of a computer system
that carries out of each instruction of the program in sequence to
perform the basic arithmetic , logical and input/output
operation of the system.
The control unit of the CPU contain circuitely that was electrical
signals to direct the entire computer system to carry out , stored
program instruction.
The control unit must communicated with both arithmetic /
logic unit and memory

OPERATION
There are four step that nearly all CPUs use in their operation : fetch ,

decode , execute and write back.

The first step fetch involves retrieving an instruction from program
memory
After the instruction is fetched , the pc is incremented by length of memory
unit .
Often the instruction to be fetched must be retreived from relatively slow
memory causing the CPU to stall while waiting for the instruction to be
returned .
This issue is largely addressed in modern processor by caches and pipeline
architecture.
The final step write back ,simply WRITE BACK the result of the execute
step to some from memory.
Very often the result are written to some internal CPU register for quick
access by subsequent instruction .

Clock Rate
The clock rate is the speed at which a microprocessor

executed instruction .
Every computer contains an internal clock that
regulates the rate at which instruction are executed
and synchronize all the various computer component.
The CPU requires a fix number of clock ticks to
execute each instruction.

COMMUNICATION PEN
P-ISMs are connected with one another through short range

wireless technology.
The whole set is also connected to the internet through Triwireless mode Bluetooth, 820.11, Terabyte of data.
This is very effective because we can able to connect whenever we
need without having wires.
They are used at the frequency band of 2.4 Ghz.
Bluetooth mechanism is used for exchanging signal status
information between two devices.
Bluetooth uses a radio technology called frequency hoping
spread spectrum.
802.11 is set of standard for implementing wireless local area
network computer communication in the 2.4, 3.6 and 5 Ghz
frequency.

VIRTUAL KEYBOARD
The virtual laser keyboard (VKB) is the ULTIMATE new gadget

for pc users.
The VKB emits laser on to the desk where if looks like the
keyboard having QWERTY arrangement of keys.
It uses a laser beam to generate a full-size perfectly operation
laser keyboard that smoothly connect to pc and most of the laser
projection, it analyses what we are typing according to the
coordinates of the location .
A virtual keyboard is a software component that allows user to
enter character.
A virtual keyboard can usually be operated with multiple input
device which may include touch screen, an actual keyboard, a
computer mouse, a head mouse and an eye mouse

The digital camera is in the shape of pen.
It is useful in video recording, video conferencing

simply it is connected with other device through

Bluetooth .
It is a 360 degree visual communication device.
This terminal will enable us to know about the
surrounding atmosphere and group to group
communication with a round display and a central
super wide angle camera

LED PROJECTOR
The role of monitor is taken by LED projector which

project on the screen.

The size of the projector is of A4 size.
It has the approximate resolution capacity of 1024*786.
Thus it is give more clarity and good picture .
A video projector is a device that receive a video signal and
project the corresponding image on a projection are widely
used in many school and other educational settings
connect.
Video projectors are widely used for conference room
presentation classroom training, home theatre and live
events application

BATTERY
The most important part in portable type of computer

is battery and storage capacity.

Usually batteries must be small in size and work for
longer time.
For normal use it can be used for 2 weeks.
The type of battery used here is lithium ion battery .
The storage device is of the type tubular holographic
which is capable of storing.
The use lithium ion battery on this gadget will reduce
energy density, durability and cost factor.

WORKING
The P-ISM consist of a package of 5 pens that all have a

unique function.
Combining together to create virtual computing
experience by producing both monitor and keyboard
on any flat surface from where you can carry out the
function that you would do on your desktop computer.
P-ISM are connected with one another via a short
range wireless technology.
The whole set is connected to the internet through the
cellular phone function.

FUTURE IMPLEMENTION

ADVANTAGE
Portable feasible ubiquitous.
Make use of WIFI technology.
Mobility.

Touch and feel the technology.

DISADVANTAGE
Currently unclear.
Costly.
Easily misplaced .

As the gadget is very costly the consumer cannot afford

to purchase them.
The virtual keyboard are already present in various
companies like LUMIO and VIRTUAL Device Inc.

CONCLUSION
The communication devices becoming smaller and

compact . This is only an example for the state of this

technology
