NME
Headline
The heading is at the very top of the page
stretching across the whole page, The name of the
magazine has been put in red this is to go along
with the house style of the magazine, the rest of the
heading has been put in bold white writing on a
black background this has been to make the
whole heading stand out to the reader so that they
know what page they are reading.
Date
The date is positioned in the top right
hand corner below the main headline
from the contents page, it has been put
there so you cant miss it, because the
headline is as big and bold as it is, its hard
to miss. Also the fact that the date it in
white text and is on a black background
its made it hard to miss.
Images
The main image that is used in the
contents page, they have made it the
centre of attraction on this contents
page. The reason they will have used this
picture is because the Arctic Monkeys
are part of the feature content. This is
clearly the main feature article because
it has been made bigger than the rest,
this is to make it stand out.

Insert

An insert is a common code and


convention in a magazine, they
break the page up. They normally
include information about the
magazine. In this insert it includes
subscription information about NME

Regular content

This content is classed as regular, this is


because it is included into the magazine
every time this magazine is published, which
in this case is weekly. The regular content
normally includes weekly interests, for
example they include something called
radar which keeps you informed for new up
and coming bands. It also included a section
called news which informs you ever week
with the latest news. A main convention for a
contents page are columns, like this contents
page it has a columned layout with bold
headings to make it clear to the reader that
there are different sections to the regular
content

Feature content

The feature content is something new that is


featured in the magazine that is a one off.
For example in NMEs contents page they
have included exclusive interviews with
famous bands like Bombay Bicycle club. By
including feature content into magazines it
attracts readers to buy the magazine every
week to see what is new.

House style

The house style for this magazine follows a


very plain style, the white background
allows the bold black text to stand out, it
involves a pop of red to the page
numbers to allow the reader to find the
page easy enough, its contrasts with the
black text. The name of the magazine has
also been put in a red colour this is to
make the name a main feature for this
article, it has been put in a larger font to
also make this more aware.

Issue information
the issue information has been put on the
top of the page this is common for the
date to be at the top of the page. It
positioned near to the heading so that it is
seen fairly easily. Its white font that has
been put on a black background so that it
stands out to the reader. The email has
also been put along side the date. This is
so the email is visible.

Images
Once again the main image is over sized and
takes up most of the page, Adele is featured in
this picture, it is a close up of her face giving
direct mode of address, by doing this it draws
the readers in to reading the content. By putting
Adele as the main image is noticeable that she
is the main feature that is included in this
magazine.

Headline
The headline is put at the top on the left hand
side of the page this is done to make the
audience aware what page this is. The headline
has been put in a white font that is medium size.
The name of the magazine has been put in the
very corner in red to follows importance and
house style.

Feature content
The feature content in this contents page is
in a column format this is a very common
code and convention used, they have put
the main heading in a red banner to make
it bold and bright. They have put the page
numbers beside the content to allow the
reader to access the page they need, they
have also put this in a red colour to show
that these numbers are important.
Regular content
The regular content has been put at
the bottom of the page this is
because it is included in the
magazine every month so it isnt
necessary for the content to be at the
top of the page. The things included
in the magazines regular content are
quizzes, reviews and multiple thing
that would be towards the back of
the magazine.
House style
The house style for this magazine is very
monotone and claim, it features the
colours grey and white and bit of black
these colours are to symbolise the type of
music in this magazine. The music isnt
necessarily boring but soft and different.
They have also added a pop of red
colouring to spice up the page, they
have only put the red colour on important
information. They made red banners to
put behind white writing so it stands out.
The font used in the contents page is
elegant and readable this is so that all
audiences can read the content.

MOJO
Heading
The heading used on this contents page is
centred in the middle of the page in big bold
text, unlike how they used to do it they havent
added contents to the title this is unlike the
normal codes and conventions. By having the
title in the middle of the page it allows a neat
and structured look the page.

Pull quote
By adding a pull quote into the contents page
its given the readers a sneak peak into what
they will be reading in the whole magazine

Images
The image used takes up half of the page,
unlike the usual codes and conventions
the singer isnt using direct mode of
address which is uncommon in a
magazine, the singer is the main image
because she is one of the main feature
articles.

Feature Content
On this contents page the feature content is laid
out in a very plain and organised lay out the
feature content includes things that are only
featured in the magazine as a one off. Once
again the content title is put in red front to add
colour to the page and text is white and a
normal font this is to allow the reader to be able
to read the content.
The numbers next to the content are also in red
this is so that you are able to easily view the
page you are interested in.
Regular content
the regular content isnt featured on this
contents page, this could be because they
dont feel the need to add it.
House style
The house style in the contents page is very
plain and professional, the feature content is
neatly spaced and clearly readable the
background of the magazine is dark grey this
is so the white text is easy to read and clear
to the eye, the text is in a medium font and
square this is so all audiences can read it.
The use of lines used on the contents page
keep the page looking sharp and structured
