THE BIG CRUNCH

Big Bangs opposite.
Supports that gravity will slow down the expansion
to the point it will stop and begin to contract
instead.
Will happend in a Universe whichs density is
greater than the critical density.

The contraction will bring everything back to the

center A single dense point.

If the density of the Universe is lower than the critical

density Continue expanding.
1st documentation of a Universe contracting Erasmus
Darwin (1791).

Some scientist believe that after Big Crunch a new

Universe will be created (The Big Bounce).
Unlikely to happen Recently discovered that the
Universe is expanding at an accelerating rate.

THE BIG FREEZE

Its is a direct consequence of an ever expanding
universe.
Expansion of the universe will continue forever.
The universe will cool as it expands.
Scientists need to gather data regarding the density,
composition, and even the shape of the universe.

THE BIG RIP

Depends on the amount of dark energy in the
Universe.
High amount of dark energy can cause a Rip.

Dark energy gets so strong that it overcomes all the

forces Torn everything apart.

The chronology of The Big Rip

HEAT DEATH VIA BLACK HOLES

Black holes:
Phenomenon predicted by Albert Einstein.
They are created from massive stars.
Gravitational field so powerful that nothing can
escape its pull.

This theory proposes that those black holes will demolish

most of the matter Universe will become dark.
Then, massive black holes will consume less massive black
holes becoming larger.
Its not the end as Black holes emit Hawking radiation.

Finally, black holes will evaporate and

Hawking radiation particles will cover all

the Universe.

THE BIG BOUNCE

Similar to the Big Crunch Same scenario: Gravity
slows the expansion causing contraction and
condensing all in one single point.
Difference: the force of contraction is strong
enough to star off another Big Bang.
In this model things isnt destroyed, just recycled.

Recent model (by Peter Lynds)

The Universe will bounce before it becomes a
singularity.
The Big Crunch will be avoid by a new Big Bang
A new universe.

Eternal Inflation
Model proposed in 1980 by Alan Guth and Andrei
Linde.
Its itself an outgrowth or extension of the Big Bang
theory.
Our Universe stars out as a rapidly expanding
bubble with no matter or radiation.

Describes a moment in the first tiny fraction of the

Universe's existence.
Physicists believe that it also explains why the
Universe is the same in all directions.
