MIDTERM EXAM
Mid term -1hr, online (15 mark objective + 5 mark descriptive) = 20 marks and it
will be middle of semester and pre-request for final exam. i.e. If a student failed
to write mid term means that student will not be permitted to attend the class
further + write final exam.
Mid term mark should reach CoE office with in 15 days from the date of mid
term exam conducted and Answer paper should be with teacher for 6 months
and then disposed off.
Late comer for exam

Missing Exam
Pay 600 rupees for each missing mid term exam if u are not deputed for office
purpose and you should write it with in 15 working days after respective exams
and Attendance will not be given for missing exam

Lecture No: 1
Crop Physiology
Introduction & Its Importance in Agriculture
Dr. T. Sivakumar,
Assistant Professor (Crop Physiology)
Mineral Nutrition
Photoperiodism SD, LD & Day-neutral plants
Vernalization = Pre-treatment of their seeds at very low temperatures
Production Physiology
Photosynthesis
Plant Growth Physiology
Environment Physiology
1. Temperature
2. Solar Radiation (light) on Flowering-Photoperiodism
3. Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration,
4. Water supply,
5. Air humidity,
6. Wind velocity etc.
1. Mineral Nutrition
Detection of deficiencies and toxicities of
particular mineral nutrient
For example, application of zinc has
corrected khaira disease of paddy
12
Night = dark
12
Day = light
3
Short day plants

3. Production Physiology
4. Photosynthesis
Synthesis of food in the presence of light.
Green plants utilise less than one per cent of
solar energy for the production of food.
Two types of plants viz., C3 and C4 plants
based on CO2 assimilation.
Rubisco (Rubulose bis phosphate
carboxygenase; oxygenase) (just like teacher
in the class here CO2 is main factor) is the
main player of photosynthesis
carboxygenase = Photosynthesis
oxygenase
= Photorespiration
6. Environment Physiology
1. Temperature
2. Solar Radiation (light) on Flowering
3. Atmospheric CO2 concentration
4. Water supply,
5. Air humidity,
6. Wind velocity etc.
