INTRODUCTION
Aluminium

is a very soft, lightweight,

malleable metal.
Its

appearance ranging from silvery to dull

gray, depending on the surface roughness.
Theyield

strength of pure Aluminium is

711Mpa.

PROPERTIES

Light in weight.
Ductile & durable.
Corrosion resistance.
Good reflectivity against light and heat.
Smooth surface finishing.
Easily Recycled.

CONNECTION
Aluminium sections can be joined by
welding, soldering, as well as though use
of adhesives, clips, bolts, rivets.

Some of Aluminium alloy can not be

connect with welded connection due too
low resistivity against heat.

We can use Aluminium in electrical

transmission towers.
It is also useful where moving structure is to
be design.
It can use for temporary structure or
scaffolding work.
Structures located in corrosive or humid
environment.

ADVANTAGES
Light

weight.
Good reflector of both light and heat.
Corrosion resistance.
High scrap value compare to steel.
Good finishing.
Low maintenance.

DISADVANTAGE
Fatigue

strength.
Low melting temp(660 c).
Cost for aluminium about 1.5 times that
for structural steel volume for volume.
