MASDAR IS A SUSTAINABLE CITY PROVIDING THE HIGHEST QUALITY OF
LIFE WITH THE LOWEST ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT. KEY FEATURES
ARE100% RENEWABLE ENERGY.
ZERO WASTE.
NET ZERO CARBON.
FOSSIL FUEL FREE ZONE.
THE CITY WILL RELY ENTIRELY ONSOLAR ENERGYAND OTHERRENEWABLE
ENERGYSOURCES.
ALL BUILDINGS ARE DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE THE USE OF NATURAL LIGHT,
MUST ADHERE TO STRICT REGULATIONS CONCERNING THE USE OF INSULATION,
LOW-ENERGY LIGHTING, AND ENERGY-EFFICIENT APPLIANCES.
SOLAR PANELS MOUNTED ON THE ROOFTOPS AND PROJECTING OVER THE
STREETS WILL PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL SOURCE OF ENERGY, ALONG WITH
SHADE FOR THE PEDESTRIANS BELOW.

A DEFINING ASPECT OF MASDAR CITYS MASTER PLAN IS THE THREE
GREEN FINGERS OR LINEAR PARKS THAT TRAVERSE THE CITY. LOCATED SO
AS TO CHANNEL PREVAILING WINDS INTO THE CITY, THE GREEN FINGERS
BRING COOLING BREEZES INTO THE HEART OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT.
THEY ALSO PROVIDE CLOSE-AT-HAND, GREEN AND SHADED OASES FOR
RESIDENTS, WORKERS AND VISITORS, INCORPORATING WALKING, JOGGING
AND BICYCLE TRAILS, BENCHES AND OTHER RECREATIONAL FACILITIES.
THE LINEAR PARKS ALSO CONNECT RECREATION AREAS LOCATED
THROUGHOUT THE CITY.

CONCLUSION
TRAFFIC IS ONE OF THE MAJOR CONCERN WHILE DESIGNING ANY URBAN AREAS.
WHILE DESIGNING URBAN AREAS, WE SHOULD HAVE TO MAKE AN INTERACTIVE
ENVIRONMENT.
THE CONSIDERATION OF FUTURE EXPANSION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR.
WE HAVE TO PROVIDE ALL THE SERVICES IN LESS WALKING DISTANCE.
THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT SHOULD BE CALM WHICH FEELS RELAXED BY
THE USERS/
WE SHOULD HAVE TO UTILIZE THE NATURAL RESOURCES OPTIMUMLY.
THE DESIGN HAS TO BE NATURALLY VENTILATED AND AIR COOLED.
SUSTAINABLITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR FOR ANY URBAN AREA.
