For Definitions see Appendix.

Salient Features
Energy
Consumption
computation
based on kVAh in place of kWH.
As the kVAh is vector sum of kWH and
kVARh, it represents Total Energy
consumption.
kVAh based energy billing encourages
consumers to consume at possible
higher power factor.
Clause on surcharge due to low power
factor removed.

Appendix
Maximum Demand, MD
The maximum demand of supply of electricity to
a customer during a month shall be 4 times the
largest number of kilo-Volt-Ampere-Hours(kVAh)
delivered at the point of supply to the consumer
during any consecutive 15 minutes in the month
for the consumers having contracted demand
above 4000 kVA(VSPs contracted demand is
135 000 kVA).

Billing Demand, BD
The Billing Demand shall be the
maximum demand recorded during
the month or 80% of the contracted
demand whichever is higher(Minimum
Billing Demand for VSP is 1 08 000
kVA).
Recorded Maximum Demand, RMD
The RMD shall be the maximum
demand recorded during the month.

Fuel Surcharge Adjustment, FSA

FSA is based on variance in the
average fuel input cost for generating
electricity by all the generating stations.
It is applicable as per the Regulations
notified by the Commission from time to
time.
