MSC STATUS

MSC Malaysia Status


Definition:
MSC Malaysia status is recognition by the
Government of Malaysia through the Multimedia
Development Corporation (MDeC), for ICT and
ICT-facilitated businesses that develop or use
multimedia technologies to produce and
enhance their products and services.
It is also a mark of world-class service and
achievement and your passport and gateway to
a host of privileges granted by the Government
of Malaysia to the business entities

MSC Malaysia status is awarded to 3


types of business entities, each with a
set of different application criteria and
guidelines. The qualifying business
entities are:1. Private limited companies (i.e.
Sendirian Berhad)
2. Institutions of Higher Learning
3. Incubators

MSC Malaysia Status Eligibility


Criteria
Provider/Developer and/or heavy user of multimedia
products and services
Employ a substantial number of knowledge workers
Strong value proposition specifying how operations will
contribute to the development of MSC Malaysia
Establish separate legal entity for MSC-qualifying
activities
Comply with environmental guidelines

The Key Benefits of MSC Status


For Companies
Pioneer status - With your MSC qualification your
company will obtain pioneer status, meaning there
will be no taxing on statutory income for an initial
period of five years.
Investment tax allowance - MSC status
companies enjoy 100% investment tax allowance.
R&D grant eligibility - Once status is obtained,
your company will be eligible for R&D grants.
No internet censorship - MSC status companies
will not be censored in any way on the internet by
the government.

A Green building focuses on increasing
the efficiency of resource use energy,
water, and materials while reducing
building impact on human health and
the environment during the buildings
lifecycle, through better siting, design,
construction, operation, maintenance,
and removal. Green Buildings should

GREEN
Investment Tax Allowance (ITA)-tax exemption
equivalent to 100% of the additional capital
expenditure incurred to obtain the GBI certificate
Import Duty Waiver-stamp duty exemption on
instruments on transfer of ownership of such

GRADE A STATUS
Grade A bracket are brand new or have been
recently redeveloped, or experienced a thorough
refurbishment. The properties are prestigious and
usually occupy prime locations within major cities
Along with the standard of the building itself, Grade
A offices will also possess high-quality furnishings,
state-of-the-art facilities, and excellent accessibility.
The property will be finished in order to compete for
premier office users, typically appealing to an
international market, and will usually demand rents
that are above average for the area.
