Standar dization (ISO).
To harmonize standards at international level. Formed in
1947.
Head quarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

ISO is a networ k of the national standards institutes of


162 countries, one member per country, with a Central
Secretariat in head quarters, that coordinates the system.

Between 1947 and the present day, ISO has published


more than 17500 Inter national Standar ds.

ISO standards are developed by technical committees


comprising experts from the industrial, technical and
business sectors which have asked for the standards, and
which subsequently put them to use.

ISO 9001:20008 :
ISO 9001:2000 is a set of internationally agreed standards that
provide guidelines for a Quality Mana gement System. This
standard is for providing assurance about the ability to satisfy
quality requirements and to enhance customer satisfaction in
supplier-customer relationships.

ISO 14001:2004 :
ISO 14001:2004 is a set of internationally agreed standards that
provide guidelines for Envir onmental Mana gement System.
This standard gives the requirements for environmental
management systems, confirms its global relevance for
organizations wishing to operate in an environmentally
sustainable manner.
W hat is TS 16949?:

TS 16949:2002 is an inter national


standar d and “technical specification”
containing requirements for establishing
and maintaining a quality mana gement
system for the design and development,
production and when relevant installation
and service of automobile-r elated
pr oducts.

Or ganisation?:

Without satisfied customers, an organization is in

To keep customers satisfied, the organization needs


to meet their requirements.

The ISO 9001:2008 standard provides a tried and


tested fr amewor k for taking a systematic
appr oach to managing the organization's
processes so that they consistently turn out
product that satisfies customers' expectations.
ISO 14001:2004 – How it helps an
Or ganisation?:

ISO 14001:2004 - to meet inter nal objectives:


Provide assurance to management that it is in control of the organizational
processes and activities having an impact on the environment .
Assure employees that they are working for an environmentally responsible
organization.

ISO 14001:2004 - to meet exter nal objectives:


Provide assurance on environmental issues to exter nal stakeholder s – such as
customers, the community and regulatory agencies.

Comply with environmental regulations .

Support the organization's claims and communication about its own


environmental policies, plans and actions .

Provides a framework for demonstrating confor mity via suppliers'


TS 16949 - How it helps an
Or ganisation?:

A quality management system (ISO 9001:2002) is set up by a


company to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and
continual improvement

TS 16949 focuses further “upstream” on the processes – or


how you pr oduce. ISO/TS 16949 requires documented
systems for contr olling the pr ocesses you use to
develop and pr oduce your pr oducts and/or deliver your
ser vices.

This standard is based on the idea that there are certain


elements every quality management system must have in
place in order to ensur e that quality pr oducts ar e
consistentl y pr ovided to the customer on time.

Audit Progr am:
STAGE 1 AUDIT :

To review the organisation's status and understanding regarding


requirements of the standard, in particular with respect to the
identification of key performance processes, objectives and operation
of the management system.

STAGE 2 AUDIT (or) CERTIFICATION AUDIT:

To evaluate the implementation, including effectiveness, of the


organisation's management system.

To evaluate the evidence about conformity to all requirements of the


applicable management system standard.

SURVEILLANCE AUDIT :

The certification is valid for 3 years. During this period once in every
year the organisation will be audited to measure its compliance the
