he was facing at his work place, so he thought of taking help from his wife who has
an experience of staffing and recruitment.
Therefore, Chriss need for help and Alisons desire to resume her professional life
led to the starting of a staffing company in his wifes maiden name.
But the consequences of the unethical ways followed by Chris to make his life
simple and realize his dream of setting up a new business, made his life more

What happened to Weston's? What actions and beliefs

facilitated their behavior?

Weston's because of their mail fraud ended up in jail. After Serving the term they
thought of leading a very authentic kind of life without returning to old patterns of
thinking and behaving, including having Accountability Partners.
ACTIONS AND BELIEFS:

Diffusion of responsibilities: As the executives of the company are using their personal
family business for the sake of company service, so even Chris started behaving and
following the same procedures.
Advantage Comparison: Chris felt that the work he is doing and the money he was
receiving from the firm were not balanced and hence he started his own firm on the
maiden of his wife and provide services to the firm.
Displacement of Authority: Inspite of getting his wife into the firm in an unethical way
he also overbilled Alisons services more regularly, and also Chris Weston felt that his

were justified by the companys
culture.

Have you observed other people using these mechanisms?

When? What happened?
Y S Rajashekar Reddy:
He was the former CM of Andhra Pradesh.
Made sure that most of the government projects were awarded to his relatives and thus
making money by unethical means.
Even though many cases were filed in the court of law, he was able to escape many of
them very easily, but in the year 2006 he surrendered 1600 acres of his personal land
to the government following a complaint.
He passed away in the year 2009, but the consequences had to be faced by his son Y S
Jagan, who had also supported his father in this unethical earnings.

Jagan was arrested in 2013 and was
in prison
for more than a year.

In your view, what were the most difficult moments the

Weston's faced? Why?

Chris and Alison Weston where worried about their children when they where
about to leave for the prison, so they have appealed for staggered sentence
which allows one parent with the children to take care, but the appeal has been
rejected by the court.

The financial position of the Weston's ran down because of all litigation and legal
expenses and hence they were worried about their childrens education and
expenses In their absence.

CONCLUSION
Chris was greedy which overshadowed how successful he really was. In
addition to his other reasons, Chris also felt that his actions were justified by
the companys culture.
Though Chris was aware of proper laws and regulations within the company
that he should inform to the higher authority before doing business with her
wife but he ignored it.
Small missteps are huge- they are what you really have to watch out for.
