Introduction
Cloud computing is current buzzword in the market. It is
paradigm in which the resources can be leveraged on per use
basis thus reducing the cost and complexity of service
providers. Cloud computing promises to cut operational and
capital costs and more importantly let IT departments focus on
strategic projects instead of keeping datacentres running. It is a
construct that allows user to access applications that actually
reside at location other than users own computer or other
Internet-connected devices.

Literature Survey

Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authenticity, and Privacy

are essential concerns for both Cloud providers and consumers as
well.

The first immediate benefit of cloud computing is that data and

applications are accessible from any computer on the Internet.

This presentation will cover the services provided by cloud

computing.

Cloud computing is dynamically scalable, device independent,

task centric, & has no fixed cost.

Cloud Computing Services

Basics :
Also known as Cloud Computing stack,
Cloud Service Models.

All aaS
- as a Service .
- Pay-as-you-go model like utility.

Who & Why Uses Cloud Computing

Services?

Corporate and government entities utilize cloud

computing services to address a variety of application
and infrastructure needs such as CRM, database,
compute, and data storage.
Unlike a traditional IT environment, where software and
hardware are funded up front by department and
implemented over a period of months, cloud computing
services deliver IT resources in minutes to hours and align
costs to actual usage.
Similarly, consumers utilize cloud computing services to
simplify application utilization, store, share, and protect
content, and enable access from any web-connected
device.

SaaS
16

Software as a Service

17

SaaS is the easiest way to cloud computing.

In which off-the-shelf applications are
accessed over the Internet.
For Example :
-Google Docs and Microsoft Zoho each offer online
spreadsheet, presentation and other packages.
-Pixlr, JayCut and Aviary are some online creation tools.
-Emplyoease , Netsuite and SalesForce are some Web
based business software suite.

SaaS Pros :

Saa
Applications are Free or Paid via Subscription S
Accessible from any computer.
Facilitates collaborative working.

SaaS Cons :
18

Security.
Internet Connection.

PaaS
19

Platform as a Service

20

Provides environment and tools for creating

new online applications.
For Example :
-Google App Engine and Microsoft Azure each offer
online tools for creation of softwares based on respected
OS.
-SalesForce allows user to Build and host the apps for
free.

PaaS Pros :

PaaS

Rapid development at low cost.

Private and/or public deployment.
Automatic Updates, Decreased Cost, Assured
Compatibility .

PaaS Cons :
21

Lock-In.
Limited Scalability.

IaaS
22

Infrastructure as a Service

23

Allows existing applications to be run on

cloud suppliers hardware.
For Example :
-Amazon web services, Rackspace hosting, Go Grid
provides web hostings.

24

What exactly happens ?

On-Premises

25

On-Cloud.

IaaS Pros :

IaaS
the versioning and upgrades

User is responsible for

of the software developed.(It is also a
disadvantage).

Various pricing models allowing paying only for what

you use.
Can be used on various platforms.
26

Elasticity.
IaaS
Cons :
Security features of IaaS may not adequate users
needs.
For faster interactions you need faster internet
connection.

Attributes of Cloud Computing

Services
:
Virtualization- cloud computing utilizes server and storage
virtualization extensively to allocate/reallocate resources rapidly.
Multi-tenancy-resources are pooled and shared among multiple users
to gain economies of scale
Network-access- resources are accessed via web-browser or thin
client using a variety of networked devices (computer, tablet,
smartphone)
27

On demand-resources are self-provisioned from an online catalogue of

pre-defined configurations
Metering/chargeback-resource usage is tracked and billed based on
service arrangement

Benefits of Cloud Computing

Services :

28

Faster implementation and time to value.

Anywhere access to applications and content.

Rapid scalability to meet demand.

Higher utilization of infrastructure investments.

Lower infrastructure, energy, and facility costs.

Greater IT staff productivity and across organization.

Enhanced security and protection of information assets

29

Conclusion
Hence, we have studied the cloud computing
services. We also studied its applications and
their necessity.

30

Future Scope
Computing is facing another revolution. This time it is
called cloud computing and involves accessing software
applications, data storage and processing power over the
Internet.
Gaining access to computing resources online may not
initially seem that radical a proposition. However, cloud
computing is already starting to turn the software industry
upside down.
The growth of cloud computing therefore threatens the
survival of many software vendors and corporate data
centres.
